is a celebration of libraries in action 📚✨ From protecting the right to read to bridging the digital divide, libraries expand access and opportunity here in Los Angeles and beyond.

For Winnie L.—a library lover and avid fan of “choose your own adventure” stories— the Library is exactly that: a place to explore, decide what comes next, and move forward freely, with the tools to pursue what brings ultimate joy 📖

That sense of possibility is empowered, protected, and carried forward by library workers and supporters like you. Invest in joy at the Library this week ❤️ Make a gift today at the link in our bio.

On average there are 4.8 outrageously opulent balls in each of my five novels, but I can tell you in all honesty that I dislike attending formal occasions. As a homebody I will find every excuse not to attend a gala, and unfortunately my stomach bug excuse has been used way too many times.

So when I was invited to chair Library Foundation of LA’s Stay Home and Read a Book Ball—an occasion that requires no stylist, no valet parking, no (pick one) short rib, poached salmon or vegan entrée, no speeches, and no silent auction—I immediately said yes.

Put on your favorite cozy sweater (or your most fabulous couture gown), brew a warm cup of tea (or pop open a bottle of V***e Clicquot), pick up a book that intrigues you, make a donation to support Los Angeles Public Library and join me for the 📚lfla.org/stayhomekevinkwan (or link in my bio!)

📘 Today, I’m staying home to read: The Loneliness of Sonia and Sunny by Kiran Desai
