WASHINGTON, DC – Los Angeles’s Historic Filipinotown was honored on October 31, 2011 when First Lady Michelle Obama, Honorary Chair of the Preserve America Initiative, designated it as one of the nation’s newest Preserve America Communities.

PANA was organized by the late Uncle Roy Morales and former Mayor Pete Fajardo in the early 70's to advocate for Filipino American issues in the community and develop a netwok of Filipino American community activists and advocates.
