Blind Children’s Center (BCC) is proud to recognize Dr. Melinda Chang, a member of BCC’s board of directors, for advancing research that is transforming the way children with cerebral/cortical visual impairment (CVI) are diagnosed and supported. Through their partnership, BCC and Children’s Hospital Los Angeles (CHLA), where Dr. Chang practices, are creating the first dedicated CVI clinic of its kind on the West Coast, expanding access to specialized care for children and families.

The new clinic will help address that need by bringing together specialized clinical expertise, research and individualized support for children with CVI and their families. Their collaboration reflects a shared commitment between BCC and CHLA to improve outcomes through earlier diagnosis, coordinated care and continued research. Read more: ⬇️

This past Saturday, our phenomenal Board of Directors held their annual retreat at the Blind Children’s Center! ✨

The day was filled with an inspiring presentation from Tom Sullivan, a training on visual impairment and orientation and mobility— which incorporated a fun scavenger hunt in our classrooms where Board members learned more about creating inclusive environments for children with vision loss and other disabilities— led by BCC’s Program Director, Bianca Ciebrant, and strategy sessions facilitated by Ryan Todd Smith from Tripepi Smith! 🌱

We’re grateful to have an extraordinary team of leaders who are committed to our mission and the families we serve.
