Are you on CalFresh? Significant cuts to CalFresh funding and eligibility are happening now, and they could affect your benefits or make the renewal process more challenging.

If you receive CalFresh, now is a good time to make sure your case is up to date and complete any renewal paperwork as soon as possible. If you've had trouble with your benefits, local organizations and participating farmers markets may be able to help with applications, renewals, food resources, and programs like Market Match, which can stretch your EBT dollars when purchasing fresh produce. Please share this with anyone who may be affected. Staying informed and connected to local resources can make a real difference.

New Work Requirements for Medicaid!

As of January 1, 2027, Many adults ages 19–64 who receive Medi-Cal through Medicaid expansion will need to complete 80 hours per month of work, school, volunteering, or other qualifying activities to maintain coverage.

The new rule could cause many people with disabilities to lose Medi-Cal by making it harder to qualify for an exemption, even when health conditions or other barriers limit their ability to meet the 80-hour requirement.

There is still time to influence this change. Public comments will be accepted through July 31, 2026, and a lawsuit challenging the rule seeks to protect access to Medi-Cal for people with disabilities.
