Today a new California Sycamore was planted on 4th & Merrick.

This new tree is to honor the Sycamore that came before it, El Aliso. The tree once served as a gathering spot for the Kizh people before it was chopped down over a hundred years ago.

This morning, Arts District community members planted this new California Sycamore, in addition to two other trees at this intersection. This tree planting is to honor El Aliso and to pay tribute to long-time Arts District advocate and tree-lover, Tim Keating. Tim will be missed by his community.
