Building community to end Alzheimer’s, one mixer at a time. 💜

Thank you to SERG (Senior Education and Resource Group) members from Los Angeles, San Fernando Valley and San Gabriel Valley for gathering to raise funds and awareness for the Alzheimer’s Association. And a special thank you to Dignity Memorial Funeral Home for graciously hosting us!

The room was full of SERG members and guests who work in the senior space every day: senior placement, hospice, nursing, financial services, senior communities, senior dog care, and more. Great conversations, new connections and a shared commitment to the families we serve.

Senior Living Specialist Theresa Olfstad shared updates on the ASAP Act and new screenings now available, important steps toward earlier detection and better support for families.

Thank you to everyone who joined us for a fun and informative evening. Together, we’re making a difference. 💜

Jen Cortes describes her father Julio Rivera as the hero of her family. He was an incredible father and beloved grandfather to her children. By volunteering with the Alzheimer's Association, she honors his legacy by bringing awareness and support to families who are going through the same journey.

Jen and her family first connected with the Association when her husband registered them for Walk to End Alzheimer’s. She believes by participating in Walk she is turning something difficult for her family into something meaningful.

Over the last several years, Jen has become a consistent presence in her local chapter by supporting the Latino Faith Leaders Breakfast, participating in community outreach and tabling events, and by joining the Walk to End Alzheimer’s planning committee.

Jen volunteers because she believes in the power of showing up, especially for Latino families navigating Alzheimer's and dementia. "Every time I share his story, I feel like I'm keeping a part of him alive and making sure his journey can help someone else."
