We’re here for the dogs nobody else would. šŸ¶šŸ’›
Akira Animal Rescue saves overlooked and at-risk pups, gets them healthy, and helps them find the love they deserve. At Akira Animal Rescue, our mission is to save high-risk dogs facing euthanasia—whether due to behavioral decline, medical emergencies, or emotional trauma—and give them the second chance they deserve. We focus on rescue, rehabilitation,

and placement of vulnerable dogs into safe, loving, forever homes. Each dog receives individualized care, patience, and the opportunity to heal both physically and emotionally. Akira, our namesake, was rescued from a high-kill shelter and survived unimaginable cruelty as a bait dog. Through years of love and commitment, he found peace and joy in our family for 15.5 years. His journey inspires our unwavering belief that every dog, no matter their past, deserves a future filled with hope.

i finally got to meet rocko today. ā¤ļø

i’ve shared his story, worried about him, celebrated his wins, and hoped for his future for months—but today was the first time i got to sit beside him, scratch his ears, and see his personality for myself.

and honestly, he’s exactly what everyone said he was.

sweet. gentle. affectionate. the kind of dog who just wants to be close to his people.

it’s hard to reconcile the dog i met today with the fact that he was surrendered by the only family he’d ever known, ended up on the euthanasia list, and has spent months waiting for someone to choose him.

rocko is currently working hard at board-and-train with , and seeing him relaxed in the sunshine today reminded me why dogs like him are worth fighting for.

he doesn’t need perfection. he doesn’t need a miracle.

he just needs someone willing to give him a chance.

if you’re looking for a foster or forever companion, please consider rocko through .

i have a feeling the person he’s been waiting for is out there. šŸ¤šŸ¾

Rootbeer wants to thank everyone who stood by him through his emergency hospitalization. šŸ¤Ž It was one of the scariest experiences we’ve faced… when we picked him up, we truly didn’t know if he was going to make it.

Because of your support, the incredible , and the compassionate care from — especially Dr. Louderback and Brittany — Rootbeer got the second chance he deserved.

Now this sweet boy is finally getting to be the happy puppy he was always meant to be, soaking up love in his foster home and learning how wonderful life can be. 🐾

Rootbeer is also looking for his forever home.

At just 7 months old, he’s already a BIG puppy and still growing into the XL boy he’s meant to be (90lbs+). He would thrive in a home with space to roam and humans who enjoy having a loyal shadow by their side. He’s currently working on puppy basics and leash manners and improves every single day.

✨ About Rootbeer ✨
• 7 months old
• Neutered male
• Anatolian Shepherd mix (Husky/Australian Shepherd)
• Expected adult size: XL (90lbs+)
• Gentle, goofy, playful, social, eager to please
• Loves being close to his people and is a total snuggle bug šŸ¤

Rootbeer survived something unimaginable, now he just needs a family to love him forever.

If you’d like to learn more about Rootbeer, DM us or email [email protected]

just a squishy boy trying his best 🄺

Rocko is an AmStaff/pit bull mix with the biggest heart — and lately, he’s been a little confused about how to handle big feelings. The good news? He’s still our Rocko — sweet, goofy, and so worth fighting for.

We’re getting him the help he needs with a 6-week board-and-train so he can learn, reset, and come back even better šŸ’›

We need to raise $4,500 to make it happen — anything helps, even just sharing his story.

he deserves to feel safe. he deserves a chance.
and we’re not giving up on him.

Full circle doesn’t even begin to cover it… šŸ¾šŸ’›

In October 2025, Cole was found on the streets of DTLA by our friend and after being hit by a car. Emaciated. Terrified. Running alongside two other greyhounds—his only sense of safety in a world that hadn’t been kind to him.

When he was rescued, his friends disappeared, and for the first time, Cole was completely alone.

He came to us shut down and afraid, carrying both physical pain and a deep fear of humans. Even the smallest moments of trust took time. He would hide behind other dogs, unsure, watching, waiting… trying to figure out if he was finally safe.

And then everything began to change.

With the support of , his emergency foster , and the unwavering love of his long term foster Cheryl—who met him with patience, gentleness, and understanding—Cole slowly started to come out of his shell. Step by step, he chose to trust. To approach. To believe.

To feel safe.

And now… the moment we’ve been hoping for.

On January 31, 2026, Cole found his forever home.

And not just any home—he found himself back with what he had been missing all along: a family that includes two other greyhounds. Companionship. Comfort. Belonging.

He’s no longer the scared dog running the streets.

He’s home.

Thank you to every person who played a part in Cole’s journey. This is why we do what we do. šŸ¾šŸ’›

Macy Gray (formerly Paris from SEAACA) had her first vet visit today. She is officially confirmed negative for ParvošŸŽ‰ and is a very healthy girl. The vet believes she is brought around 3 months and weighed in at 7.9 pounds — unclear if that was pre-peeing on the scale or postšŸ˜…šŸ¤£ All jokes aside, Macy Gray is expected to be 25-30lbs at full size🄰 See the last slide to see Macy’s favorite toy šŸ‘€

Baby girl will be available for adoption soon, but we are already accepting applications — link in bio. You may also email us at [email protected]

Paris is only 3 months old, and she found herself on the euthanasia list at SEAACA. 3 negative parvo tests weren’t enough. Our foster couldn’t sit there and watch Paris die before her life even started. After not being about to reach us to see if we could help, Lori took it upon herself to save Paris. Once the papers were signed, Lori and I connected. We are on an intake hold, but we also value our incredible fosters and couldn’t let her do this alone.

Welcome Paris, now Macy Gray to the Akira Animal Rescue Family. Please honor your pledges and donate towards her care!
