CA AmeriCorps Disaster Team is a state-wide program that helps engages volunteers to prepare vulnerable communities for emergencies and provides disaster recovery services. Our mission is to provide vital emergency assistance to communities affected by disaster, to increase preparedness in the areas of greatest need before disasters strike, and to recruit, train, and support volunteers to prepare
and respond to small and large disasters. The Disaster Team has the unique opportunity to work on all sides of the recovery process, by supporting both Red Cross and state run response and recovery efforts. Disaster Team members use the skills they gain through the American Red Cross to make a tangible difference in the lives of survivors of local, statewide, and national disasters. Disaster Team members are creative, passionate, and dedicated individuals that serve in a full-time capacity for 10.5 months at American Red Cross chapters across California. We currently have 23 members serving at sites from Santa Ana to Sacramento! Disaster Team members receive a bi-weekly stipend of 1108.70, health and dental coverage, childcare assistance to those that qualify, and a $10,00 Education Award upon successful completion of the national service program.
