'Resistance' will be on exhibition at House of Lucie Los Angeles until November 6th, 2026!

Curated by Sarah Leen, Resistance brings together images from four separate but thematically intertwined urgent issues: the American experience with ICE and migration enforcement, the Iranian uprising, the war in Ukraine, and the ongoing Palestinian struggle for freedom and self-determination. Through photography and visual storytelling, the exhibition examines acts of defiance, survival, and resilience in the face of overwhelmingly oppressive realities. The works presented here reflect the enduring human spirit and the ways individuals and communities continue to resist systems of control while fighting to preserve their dignity and hope.

A new opportunity from our friends at Vital Impacts!
------
At a time when the challenges facing our planet have never been more urgent, environmental storytelling matters more than ever.

The 2027 Vital Impacts Fellowships & Mentorships are now accepting applications, supporting photographers who are documenting the people, places, and issues shaping our planet and our future.

This year, .Impacts is offering $50,000 in fellowship funding and 10 yearlong mentorships, connecting photographers with leading editors and mentors to strengthen their storytelling, grow their careers, and open doors to new opportunities.

Charlie Cordero () is one example of what this kind of support can make possible. A 2024 Vital Impacts mentee, Charlie later received a .Impacts Environmental Grant. Vital Impacts supports environmental stories that go deeper than the headlines—stories that help us better understand the critical issues facing our planet, while also illuminating the people, ideas, and solutions creating a path forward.

In addition to working at the family restaurant on Isla Múcura (neighboring island), she is one of the best stylists on the island. She spends most of her free time helping other girls on the island with their haircuts and braids. April 22, 2017.
