The program provides grants up to $5,000 to California artists or cultural workers meaningfully contributing to alternative efforts outside of conventional nonprofit and for-profit arts and culture systems that have not worked for everyone. This Fund encourages those working in alternative efforts focused on income, ownership, and care, and uplifts the role of artists and cultural workers in shaping and sustaining these efforts.

This program awards $1,000–$5,000 grants to individual craft artists to purchase artistic tools and equipment that support their ability to make object-based work through the skillful manipulation of materials.

This round is open to craftspeople living in CT, DE, DC, FL, GA, ME, MD, MA, NH, NJ, NY, NC, PA, RI, SC, VT, or VA.
