NLGJA is committed to fostering fair and accurate coverage of LGBT issues. We are a national organization of journalists, media professionals, educators and students working toward the professional development of our members. Headquartered in Washington, D.C., NLGJA was founded in 1990 and is led by a board of directors and chapter leaders across the country. The Los Angeles Chapter:

A huge shoutout and heartfelt thank you to our Press Pride Prom host Tracy E. Gilchrist for elevating the evening and for us and q***r journalistic excellence, as well as our presenters and guest speakers who expertly steered our awards ceremony along, including the Trans Journalists Association's Tre'vell Anderson, ABC7’s David Gonzalez, NBCLA’s Alex Rozier, Joshua Marin-Mora — who presented our awardees with a formal commendation from California State Assemblymember Rick Zbur — and NLGJA President Ken Miguel!

EVENT: Reporting on Immigration: An Evening With LA Journalists

On Thursday July 24th, LARC and LA Press Club are co-hosting an evening on immigration coverage in Los Angeles. Held at the LA Press Club’s theater in Historic Filipinotown, the evening will spotlight local reporters and editors working to center humanity, safety, and truth-telling in a summer of enforcement and raids.

Speakers include Dana Amihere (Founder/Executive Director of AfroLA), Jessica Perez (Senior Editor of Boyle Heights Beat), Jeremy Lindenfeld (Reporter, Capital and Main), and Mariah Castañeda (Audience Director and Co-Founder of LA Public Press).
