NLGJA Los Angeles The L.A. Chapter of NLGJA - The Association of LGBTQ+ Journalists. We're here, we're q***r, we're on

NLGJA is committed to fostering fair and accurate coverage of LGBT issues. We are a national organization of journalists, media professionals, educators and students working toward the professional development of our members. Headquartered in Washington, D.C., NLGJA was founded in 1990 and is led by a board of directors and chapter leaders across the country. The Los Angeles Chapter:

We serve the greater Los Angeles area, bringing together journalists and spurring dialogue about LGBTQ news coverage. NLGJA LA holds networking mixers, brunches and discussion panels throughout the year for journalists and their friends to mingle and discuss the industry and make new contacts.

Our LA Chapter leadership team had a blast at last week! We wanted to celebrate and thank all of our incredible members who led and spoke on panels throughout the conference. We also wanted to thank all the NLGJA staff, volunteers and conference team who made this year’s conference so special. We can’t wait to bring back what we learned to Los Angeles.

Much of our work couldn’t be possible without the support of our community. A huge thank you goes out to the Connie Norman Empowerment Center and Young People to the Front for hosting our board retreats this year, allowing us to come together as a group, review our progress and set strong intentions for the year and beyond, like expanding our programming, growing our board and launching a scholarship.

With your help, 2026 is turning out to be one of our strongest years to date!
