LEAP - Leadership Education for Asian Pacifics

LEAP - Leadership Education for Asian Pacifics Since its founding in 1982, Leadership Education for Asian Pacifics, Inc. LEAP is headquartered in Los Angeles.

LEAP (Leadership Education for Asian Pacifics) is a national organization founded in 1982 with a mission to achieve full participation and equality for Asian and Pacific Islanders (API) through leadership, empowerment and policy. (LEAP) has been intent on "growing leaders" within Asian and Pacific Islander (API) communities across the world. When LEAP opened its doors 34 years ago, it had a simple

yet powerful idea: that in order for Asian and Pacific Islander (API) communities to realize their full potential and to foster robust participation in this increasingly globalized world, these communities would have to begin producing leaders who could advocate and speak on their behalf. With original programs in leadership training, public policy research and community education, LEAP raises the impact and visibility of APIs in all sectors. A national, nonprofit organization, LEAP works to meet its mission of achieving full participation and equality for Asian and Pacific Islanders (APIs) through leadership, empowerment, and policy by: Developing people, because leaders are made, not born; Empowering communities, because leaders are grounded in strong, vibrant communities; and Informing society, because leaders know the issues. Guided by its leadership development philosophy that Asian and Pacific Islanders can retain their unique cultures, identities and values while developing new and vital skills that will make them effective leaders within their own organizations, their communities and the broader society, LEAP recognizes that the need for API leadership has two separate but inextricably linked components: quantity and quality. Not only is there a need for greater numbers of API leaders, but these leaders also must be more effective if API communities are to thrive and become full participating members of our global society. Through the creation of culturally relevant workshops and programs, more than 125,000 people from colleges and universities, community and student organizations, government agencies and Fortune 1000 companies across North America and Asia have participated in over 2,500 LEAP leadership development programs, organizational development workshops, skills building and diversity trainings.

Mark your calendars! Our August LEAP Connect session, "Leading from Values: Honoring Culture and Defining Your Own Path," welcomes special guest Amy Mok.

The values we inherit from our culture can be a powerful source of strength and belonging, but they can also shape our ideas of success and well-being in ways worth examining. In this session, we'll explore how to lead with the values passed down to us while also making room to define our own path forward.

You'll leave with practical reflection tools, greater clarity on your leadership values, and a framework for bringing your cultural roots and personal growth into alignment.

Whether you're navigating a career transition, redefining your goals, or just want space to reflect, this one's for you. 💛

🎉 We're excited to welcome the 2027 LEAP Emerge cohort, a group of 10 emerging leaders ready to grow, connect, and give back to their communities.

LEAP Emerge has always been about more than leadership training. It's about building a community of support that lasts well beyond the program itself. We're so glad to have this new class join that community.

Help us give them a warm welcome in the comments below!

Join us for July LEAP Connect: From ABGs to Wasian TikTok| How Asian Identity Became an Aesthetic with Kaila Yu and Joan King!

This engaging conversation explores how pop culture, social media, beauty trends, and dating discourse have shaped how Asian identity is perceived, performed, and consumed online.

Authors Kaila Yu and Joan King will examine the rise of labels and aesthetics such as ABG culture, “boba liberal” identity, K-pop beauty ideals, and “Wasian” TikTok, asking what happens when a community’s identity becomes a trend. Drawing on Kaila’s book Fetishized and Joan Sung's Kinda Korean, the discussion will unpack how these representations affect belonging, self-image, desirability, and how Asian Americans understand themselves.

Participants will leave with:

✨ A deeper understanding of how Asian identity has been shaped by media and online culture

✨ Language for discussing fetishization, beauty standards, and representation

✨ Insight into the difference between visibility, validation, and real belonging

✨ Questions to consider about who gets to define culture in the social media age
