NAASCA-National Association Adult Survivors of Child Abuse These experiences spanned my adolescence. As a freshman in high school I decided to go to Confession to a priest to divulge what had happened to me ..

NAASCA offers hope and healing to many still-suffering adult survivors of child abuse and trauma, and educates the public about prevention, intervention and recovery. Our founder, Bill Murray, writes, "In my case I was a severely sexually molested child (starting at 11 years old and lasting through high school), the victim of multiple male pedophiles (many of them clergy, sometimes "sharing" me be

tween them), the survivor of a two week interstate and international kidnapping (at age 13) and the child-model for thousands of pre-pubescent pornographic photographs. I tried to get help numerous times, telling some of the adults in my life about these traumatic experiences, but without avail. but the man turned out to be a predator himself. Not only was he interested in me but he revealed my vulnerability to other of his fellow clerics. Raised a devout Catholic, this was a devastating trauma. In the end I just held on, naively waiting for a time when I would be old enough, big enough and "adult" enough to not be a victim anymore. I decided to keep it a secret. But I now understand that child abuse trauma effects a person across their lifespan. Its my belief that we child-victims were diverted from our destiny, and our lives were changed forever, in the moment we were first violated."

Maria Vinci Savettiere, Esq. has been the Executive Director of Deirdre’s House since June 2003. Deirdre’s House is a nationally accredited child advocacy center and is the only site in Morris County where child victims of abuse and/or neglect can be forensically interviewed and prepared for trial by law enforcement, medically examined and treated by a pediatric abuse specialist, and clinically counseled-in English or Spanish—all under one roof, all free of charge. Since 1996, Deirdre’s House has provided services in over 58,000 child visits.

As Executive Director of Deirdre’s House, Maria has combined her legal knowledge and business acumen to improve and add to the programs and services offered to child victims and their families. She has increased cooperation and collaboration among law enforcement, child welfare agencies and organizations investigating crimes against children and providing services to child victims. NAASCA had done nearly 4,000 popular SCAN talk radio shows when BlogTalkRadio closed its doors at the end of January.

We're now setting up ongoing podcasts on Spreaker, but will do the original recordings on ZOOM. They'll still be named Stop Child Abuse Now (SCAN) and will feature survivors of child abuse and sometimes professionals.

I hope each of the group here will participate. Contact Kim Lakin (CO) [email protected] to get your name on the eventual list of participants. She's going to ask folks for a little contact info, and will set up dates for people to appear.

Our organization, NAASCA.org is in the process of updating our website and our many programs and services. Then too we were notified in early Jan, 2025, that the platform we've used to present nearly 4,000 talk show programs is to be cancelled Jan 31st.

So ... one of the big changes to NAASCA is to find a way to preserve the existing 'Stop Child Abuse Now' talk show episodes and replace them with something else. I'll be setting up a new show in a podcast format and have moved the 4000 SCAN shows to Spreaker.

I'm searching for a new platform to record new podcasts. We'll want to include the ability to have a panel of NAASCA members and new contacts that will be directed by a Host as to how to participate on the new podcast format.

I'm also refreshing the NAASCA.org website but a lot of the content there will remain.

There's even more going on too, but this is enough for now.

Be well and safe

Bill
