Dear IPEG Family,

Today we mourn the loss of one of our own—Dr. Carroll "Mac" Harmon—a pioneering member of IPEG, past president, and dear friend to so many in our community.

For over four decades, Mac was at the forefront of pediatric minimally invasive surgery. Those of us who had the privilege of working alongside him remember his relentless commitment to teaching, his ability to convey complex concepts with clarity, and his genuine care for trainees and colleagues alike. Many of us taught courses with Mac, watched him mentor the next generation, and witnessed his dedication to reducing the morbidity of surgery for children.

What made Mac truly special was not just his surgical skill or leadership, but his character. He was a true gentleman who would do anything for anybody without question. His continued engagement with IPEG, even in recent years, demonstrated his enduring passion for our mission and his investment in our success.

Mac helped thousands of children around the world and inspired countless surgeons. His influence will continue to be felt through the people and programs he helped shape.

Our thoughts are with Mac's family during this difficult time. We have lost a great friend, leader, and visionary.

With love and gratitude for all Mac gave to us and our field,

On behalf of IPEG leadership:

Katherine A. Barsness, MD
President, IPEG

Mark L. Wulkan, MD
CEO, IPEG

We are pleased to invite IPEG members to an upcoming International Pediatric Endosurgery Group Grand Rounds Webinar focused on a topic that continues to challenge traditional age based surgical decision making.

Adolescent Inguinal Hernia: Is it Really Different?

Adolescents with inguinal hernia often fall into a gray zone between pediatric and adult practice. This Grand Rounds will explore how anatomy, growth, recurrence risk, and minimally invasive techniques influence operative strategy in this unique population. The discussion will emphasize evidence based approaches, technical considerations, and areas where practice variation still exists.
