THE HORROR WRITERS ASSOCIATION is a nonprofit organization of writers and publishing professionals around the world, dedicated to promoting dark literature and the interests of those who write it. The HWA formed in 1985 with the help of many of the field’s greats, including Dean Koontz, Robert McCammon, and Joe Lansdale. Today, with over 1250 members around the globe, it is the oldest and most respected professional organization for the much-loved writers who have brought you the most enjoyable sleepless nights of your life. This page is for official announcements, discussions about the genre or industry, or creative and business questions from members and aspiring members. Any other posts, including technical issues with our website or member renewal questions, will be deleted to keep the page clean.

The Board of Trustees, Senior Staff, and Members of the Horror Writers Association express their deepest condolences on the passing of Suzanne Desrocher Romero.

Her tireless efforts as leader of the George A. Romero Estate and The George A. Romero Foundation will never be forgotten.

Our thoughts are with our friends and partners at the George A. Romero Foundation and with the Romero Family.
