This Earth Day, we’re celebrating some of the local organizations reconnecting communities to the soil.

By tending Los Angeles County’s lands, creating jobs, providing education, and growing organic produce, these partners are helping Angelenos live healthier lives.

is setting the standard for what local agriculture should look like.

Our executive director Paula Daniels recently met with the phenomenal , founder of Bloom Ranch of Acton, LA County’s largest Black-owned farm.

Bloom Ranch is doing everything we hope for in local agriculture for community health:  regeneratively farmed healthy food, serving community through Food Is Medicine programs and Bounty Boxes - fresh locally grown vegetables delivered to your door. 🥕👩🏾‍🌾

The LA Times just profiled the incredible work happening at Bloom Ranch - link to read more and grab your own Bounty Box in our bio.

Honored to celebrate the grand opening of Project Angel Food’s new kitchen space!🎉

Project Angel Food is one of the county’s top Food Is Medicine providers, and their new space can now provide about 135,000 meals per month.🍽️

The space features a beautiful new mural by amazing LA artist named “Nourishing the Community”.🎨

Shown speaking: Richard Ayoub (CEO), Ben Martin, and artist Robert Vargas.

We loved visiting the Veteran’s Garden Project, a 15-acre farm site in development at the West Los Angeles VA.🇺🇸

The farm—a product of partnerships between GrowGood, UCLA Health, and VA Whole Health—offers veterans regenerative agriculture job training.🍅

It was great to meet up there and discuss future planning, with Jim Zenner (Director of County Military and Veteran’s Affairs,) and folks from the County Dept of Aging and Disability.  Shown in the photos: Jennifer Allen (VA Whole Health and Program Manager), and Meghan Steed Garvey (Grow Good).  To learn more, visit 🤝

Reflecting on an incredible first year for !!

We launched on January 6, 2025, just one day before wildfires swept LA County. Our first year has been about building foundations while responding to crisis.

Some highlights from 2025:

🔥Distributed $500 grocery vouchers to 1,800 wildfire-impacted households

🍎🥦 Coordinated the distribution of 25,000+ lbs of produce for emergency relief

📊 Launched the Food Base LA Dashboard with USC Public Exchange

In 2026, we’re continuing to advance our initiatives in food hubs, community gardens, regenerative sourcing, and public market strategies.

Thank you to our partners, funders, and the for making this work possible.

We were happy to volunteer at two food distribution events organized by LA Regional Food Bank during the disruption in SNAP funding.🍎

Held in Lancaster and Expo Park, the events were organized in partnership with the Supervisor’s offices.🤝

The great food boxes they gave out included Mary’s Chicken, which is local to California, family farmed, free range. 📦🐓

The lines were around the block for hours! Grateful to be of help!💚

Great news!🎉

The Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors has approved a motion led by Supervisors and to strengthen the LA County Office of Food Systems (LAC-OFS)!

The motion establishes a more formal collaboration between our office and county departments, providing more resources to improve the food system for all LA County residents.🤝🥗

We’re grateful to the Los Angeles Board of Supervisors for their vision in creating the office and their support.🙏
