The California Black Women's Health Project (CABWHP) is the only statewide, non-profit organization that is solely committed to improving the health of California's 1.2 million Black women and girls through advocacy, education, outreach, and policy. We focus on empowering Black women to take personal responsibility for our own health and to advocate for changes in policies that negatively affect Black women's health status.

We walked, played, laughed, rested, connected & made space for healing together.

Our Community Walk & Family Field Day was a beautiful reminder of what becomes possible when we intentionally gather in joy & care. From activities that reminded us of our youth & field day games to the sound bath, wellness resources, food & meaningful conversations, every moment reflected the power of community connection.

At CABWHP, we believe wellness is not a luxury it is essential. Creating spaces where our community can pause, receive support, experience joy & simply be is part of building the future we deserve: one rooted in collective healing, accessibility & belonging.

Thank you to everyone who joined us, shared in the experience & helped create a day filled with laughter, restoration & love.

Because of you, our beloved community, we continue moving toward a future where our people are well, supported & able to thrive.

Community, we deserve more than survival. We deserve spaces to heal, be seen & show up whole.

We believe in wellness spaces where Black women & Black culture are not just included, but centered, honored & celebrated.

We believe in the right to rest, to restore, to reconnect, with ourselves & each other.
And we believe that healing should never require code-switching, shrinking or silence.

✨ Whether you’re looking for sisterhood, self-care or opportunities to lead change, we’ve got space for you.

Those who hold space for others deserve spaces that hold them, too. Our events, gatherings & trainings are intentionally designed to nurture the nurturer, creating environments where advocates, caregivers, leaders & healers can rest, reconnect, learn & grow in community.

Through our Advocate Training Program model, we center relationship-building, lived experience, skill development & ongoing support so our community’s social justice & health equity advocates leave informed, empowered & sustained for the work ahead. Because when we invest in the well-being & leadership of those serving others, the impact reaches far beyond the room. To support our community’s path forward, these efforts must be prioritized & must persist.

Happy Mother’s Day to every mother, grandmother, godmother, spiritual mother, auntie, sister, mentor & mother figure who pours love into others & helps hold our communities together. Today we celebrate the beauty of the village & the many ways Black women and caregivers show up with care, wisdom, compassion & love.

We honor those expecting, those navigating infertility, those longing to be mothers, those grieving & those mothering in nontraditional ways. Your presence, guidance & love matter deeply.

We see you. We honor you. We celebrate you. 🤎✨

We honor May & Mental Health Awareness Month as a time to center healing, rest & the power of community. And we unapologetically believe that culturally grounded & affirming mental health supports are not a luxuries for our community; they are essential.

Throughout May, we’ll be hosting events, sharing tools & holding space for conversations that uplift & support the mental wellness journeys of Black individuals & families. Whether you’re looking for resources, connection or simply a reminder that your village is here for & with you, we’ve got you.
