What an incredible honor it was to partner with the Academy Museum during Juneteenth weekend for the 50th Anniversary 4K screening of Car Wash.

Hearing the cast and crew share candid, insightful reflections on the making of this groundbreaking film was both inspiring and moving. Fifty years later, Car Wash continues to resonate as a cultural touchstone and an enduring piece of cinematic history.

A special thank you to our Assistant General Manager, Linda Abbott Bronson, whose vision, leadership, and dedication helped orchestrate this meaningful collaboration. We are grateful for the opportunity to celebrate this iconic film and its lasting legacy with our community.

Join PAFF and the Academy Museum of Motion Pictures for a special 50th Anniversary Celebration of the beloved classic Car Washβ€”newly restored in stunning 4K.

Stacked with Black comedy and cinema luminaries Franklyn Ajaye, Bill Duke, Ivan Dixon, Antonio Fargas, Garrett Morris, and Richard Pryor, and supported by George Carlin, Irwin Corey, and Melanie Mayron, this who’s-who of 1970s independent and underground cinema makes for a joyous slice of life. Underscored by the funky tunes of Rose Royce and complemented by a cameo by the Pointer Sisters, Schultz’s classic is a witty, primarily... light-hearted offering from an otherwise tumultuous decade.

🎟️ Starts at $5
