The Fellowship Program returns in 2027 with a renewed focus: technological innovation through community participation.
For this cycle, please nominate artists, educators, and engineers working across AI, games, and hardware to propose projects that extend the impact of Processing.
The call for nominations is open from October 7–November 1, 2026.

Each fellow will receive:
* A $10,000 stipend during the 8-month fellowship
* Open-source software mentorship from the Processing Foundation team and collaborators
* A cohort of fellows to work, share, and check in with
* Professional development
* Public opportunities to share the work, including talks, workshops, and published documentation
* Connection to the wider Processing community of artists, educators, and contributors
* Opportunity to join the Processing Foundation Fellowship Alum Network
Collective Intelligence Track
What would AI education become if young people helped design it?
Remote, anywhere in the U.S.
AI tools are arriving in classrooms faster than anyone can explain how they work, and most are designed without input from young people. What would it take for young people to understand AI well enough to shape it, not just use it?
Fellows will work with Mark Cuban Foundation’s youth community to co-design creative AI education tools.
Gaming the System Track
Who gets to shape the tools for game design?
Hybrid, Los Angeles
Games are one of the most powerful ways artists tell stories and build worlds. But the tools for making them often assume experience, resources, and access that many young people don’t have. What would game design look like if it started with the young people least often invited in?
The fellow will develop an open-source video game design toolkit, co-designed with underserved communities in Los Angeles.

What does it mean to reclaim computers in 2027?
