The future of child care is being shaped by people who believe in it. 💛

Hear dedicated providers and passionate advocates reflect on what’s possible when people come together on behalf of our children.

For more than 60 years, Head Start has helped children get a strong start in life while supporting our families and our communities. This is a reminder that when we prioritize our youngest learners and pour into their early years, we create opportunities that can last a lifetime 🐻

As California prepares for the June primaries, conversations around child care remain more important than ever 🗣️💛

Child care is essential to strengthening our state. The leaders we choose today will help shape the future of policies and systems that impact families for generations to come.

We recently asked a few of our parents, providers, and community champions to share their thoughts on child care and what they hope leaders understand about its importance. Here’s what they had to say ⬇️

" When children fall behind because they don’t have access to the programs that they need, parents can’t work, businesses struggle, and communities suffer." - Leslie (Executive at child care service program )

"I think it's important to increase pay rates for child care workers... that'll ensure they have a decent quality of life for themselves, which in turn leads to higher quality child care for all." - Carmen (Mother of neurodivergent 3-year-old child )

"We aren’t asking for anything complicated...We need child care we can afford. Providers that we trust. (And) Stability, so our kids have the routine and consistency to build independence. When we support great child care, all of us do better." - Lena (Working mother of two kids under 5)

We’re proud to uplift the voices of advocates who continue pushing for a better future for our children across our Golden State. ✨

If you could talk to the Governor of California, what would you say about child care? Let us know in the comments 💬

We recently joined the “Every Child, Every Chance” Early Childhood Education Convening hosted by the Los Angeles County Department of Economic Opportunity in partnership with the Los Angeles City Parks Child Care Division 💛

During the convening, Children Now's Stacy Lee, UNITE-LA's Sonia Campos Rivera, City of Los Angeles’s Rachel Bocarsi, Low Income Investment Fund's Dr. Shelly Masur joined National League of Cities's Amirh Moore for an inspiring conversation focused on what it will take to move toward universal care and the vision behind A Golden State for Care.

We appreciated the opportunity to connect with fellow advocates united by a shared commitment to building stronger systems of support for children and families across Los Angeles. ✨

The Jackson 5 have been making people move for generations and these little ones are no exception 🕺🏽💛

Watching them hear Blame It on the Boogie for the first time and show off their best moves might just be the cutest thing you'll see today. Safe to say they’re boogying their way into the weekend. ✨

When child care becomes harder to access, families feel the impact and so does our workforce. 💛

As more families face growing caregiving pressures and rising child care costs, the ripple effects reach far beyond the home. Because this isn’t just a family issue, it’s a community issue, and supporting families helps ensure California can thrive.

Strong families help build strong communities. 💛

Today, on , we recognize the importance of creating systems and communities where every family feels supported.

This year’s theme, “Families, Inequalities and Child Wellbeing,” highlights the importance of creating a future where all children and families have the opportunity to be successful no matter their situation. Access to child care is one of the most powerful ways we can help families thrive.

To all of our amazing families, we’re in your corner. ✨

From watching children learn and grow to building lasting connections with families and communities, these are the moments that motivate our providers, educators, and leaders to show up every day for our little ones. 💛

At the Head Start California Conference, we asked attendees what brings them the most joy in child care work and their answers are a beautiful reminder that child care is rooted in love. ✨
