📣 STUDENT & COMMUNITY VICTORY! 📣
Today, LAUSD voted on a 3-year funding plan that would have cut BSAP by almost 90% and SENI by 100%—decimating critical equity investments for Black students and high- and highest-need schools across the district.
✊🏿But when we fight, WE WIN!!!!✊🏾
Over the past two weeks, students, parents, educators, and community members raised their voices and forced the district to listen. Instead of devastating cuts, we won the protection of almost all BSAP funding, reduced cuts for SENI high- and highest-need schools, and a commitment from LAUSD to prioritize BSAP and SENI with any new state dollars.
While there is still much more work to do to secure all of the resources and supports that Black and Brown students—and all marginalized youth—deserve, today marks a significant victory!! 🏆🏆🏆
Together, we protected programs that have transformed conditions for Black youth and other students of color throughout LAUSD.
This victory belongs to every student, parent, educator, and community member who spoke out, signed petitions, attended actions, made calls, and demanded better.
The struggle continues. ✊🏿❤️✊🏾
