Under the direction of artist Leilani Chan, TeAda Productions exists to enrich the repertoire of contemporary works created and performed by people of color. Begun in 1994, TeAda Productions is a 501c(3) nonprofit organization whose primary mission is to empower underserved communities through the development and presentation of interdisciplinary theatrical performance pieces by, for and about people of color. By developing ground-breaking, high caliber, cross-disciplinary performances that incorporate cultural forms such as dance and music with experimental theatrical and performance art practices, TeAda Productions expands awareness, builds communities and educates the general public about the issues facing underserved communities. TeAda Productions achieves this mission by producing and touring innovative performances, both locally and nationally, in traditional and non-traditional venues and through residencies offering community-based workshops and new work development labs.

🚨 JOIN US: Saturday, November 7th from 3:30-6pm for the Fall 2026 Theater for Asylum Seekers Public Sharing at TeAda Productions in Mid City, Los Angeles!!! ❤️❤️❤️

❤️ For the past 9 and a half years, TeAda Productions and Program for Torture Victims (PTV) have collaborated in a residency program that engages recently arrived immigrants, refugees, and asylum seekers. ❤️

☀️ TeAda Productions provides theater and storytelling workshops for the clients of PTV. The program provides the means for participants to safely explore their lived experience, inhabit the world of creative expression, expand their community connections, and share their story through performance. ☀️

🌱 The program also becomes a powerful exchange of wisdoms, and provides a sanctuary space to adjust, adapt, create, and heal. 🌱

🗣️ The culmination on November 7th, 2026 will feature stories, spoken word, movement and theater pieces written, arranged, and performed by immigrants, refugees, and asylum seekers centering stories discussing: migration, persecution, violence, freedom, power, peace, resilience, healing, liberation, and love. 🗣️

❤️ We are currently developing the upcoming Fall 2026 performance with our newest cohort. We are excited to share it with you! ❤️

“Kurogo Me, Together!” explores themes of identity, invisibility/visibility, and erasure through storytelling, audience participation with the Kurogo costume, and an open, community discussion forum at the end to name what was felt, and experienced.

The performance takes place:

Staff & Board reunite! ⭐️⭐️⭐️ Our fall retreat brought us back together, and recharged all of us as we look forward to a busy fall and spring at TeAda Productions. We were led by Ova to do some grounding, movement, and teada methodology, ate some INCREDIBLE food from FawzaiBakes, and recentered Board commitments, expectations and priorities with the support of Meena Malik ❤️❤️❤️. Big love to our Board and Staff: Carol, Donna, Dennis, Carolina, Haejin, Leilani, Ova, Soultree and Jonny! And…
