Join Alzheimer's Los Angeles this fall for Advances in Alzheimer's Research, a free community seminar bringing leading researchers directly to families throughout Los Angeles.

Designed specifically for communities disproportionately affected by Alzheimer's disease, these events provide an opportunity to:

🩺 Receive free cognitive screenings
💬 Learn about clinical trial participation
🤝 Connect with local resources and support

Our first event serves the Spanish-speaking community and takes place on Saturday, September 26.

When someone living with Alzheimer's or another dementia suddenly begins acting differently, it's natural to wonder, "Why are they doing this?"

A helpful question might be: "What are they trying to tell me?"

Many behaviors are a form of communication. Before reacting, consider what may be contributing to the change:

🩺 Could they be in pain or feeling unwell?
🏡 Has something changed in their environment?
📝 Is the task becoming too difficult?
💬 Are they having trouble understanding what's being said?

By taking a moment to identify possible causes, caregivers can often reduce frustration and respond with greater patience and understanding.

Remember: behaviors aren't always intentional—they're often a sign that someone needs support in a different way.
