A change in behavior is often a clue.

When a person living with dementia suddenly becomes upset, withdrawn, restless, or difficult to redirect, ask:

What might they be trying to communicate?

Consider:
❤️ Health: Could they be sick or in pain?
🏠 Environment: Is it noisy, hot, or unfamiliar?
🧩 Task: Has something become too difficult?
💬 Communication: Are they having trouble understanding?

Instead of focusing only on stopping the behavior, look for what may be causing it.
That shift can help you respond with more calm, compassion, and confidence.
