Yes, that's a real puppy-- the world's smallest, to be exact. The story of Beyonce, who cheated death due to the extraordinary dedication of a rescue organization called The Grace Foundation, is inspiring. Her mom was a stray, scheduled to be euthanized... rescued at the last minute, Beyonce was the runt of the litter and was not breathing on birth. Heroic efforts, including mouth-to-muzzle resuscitation, saved Beyonce. The size of a tablespoon at birth, now two weeks old, she is the size of a mobile phone. Absolutely. iPhone sized puppy makes national news and is helping to save other dogs and puppies lives. You can help Beyonce save the lives of other rescue animals slated for death.

Hmm, the new PETA ad is stirring controversy, again. It's a picture of a shark with a leg in its mouth (they call it a "drumstick"), which is referring to a recent incident where a shark fisherman was attacked. What do you think of the effect of these campaigns?

We just learned about this important campaign... we know it's specific to a single state, but well, animals can't choose what state they're in, and it's all of our responsibilities to help them wherever we can:

Idaho is one of only three states, including North Dakota and South Dakota, that does not have a felony cruelty to animals provision.

In 2008, the Idaho legislature changed dog fighting to a felony, so dog fighting and poisoning are the only felonies in Idaho’s Animal Care Law.

It's time to change this . . .

Idaho 1 of 3 is a grass roots organization brought forth by a coalition of Idaho citizens and groups to protect Idaho animals from cruelty. We must collect 60,000 signatures by April 30, 2012 to get this initiative on the November 2012 ballot.

The initiative will accomplish two things:

1. Add a torture definition which will result in felony charges and penalties;
2. Add a felony penalty for the third and subsequent convictions of animal cruelty.

We haven't used the new (US) White House petition system yet, but if you're moved by the effort to stop the slaughtering of horses, this might be a good time to try it out! Just 1300 signatures left to go before we get to the threshold.

A fan of our page recently wrote me the following message that I decided to share:
“I recently rescued Chance, a lovely greyhound from the streets of Guam. When the race track there closed, they released all the greyhounds to fend for themselves on the streets.
