Project Angel Food is Los Angeles’ leading non-profit provider of nutritional meals and counseling for people living with serious illnesses, such as cancer, heart disease, HIV/AIDS, and renal failure. Borne in response to the AIDS crisis, today Project Angel Food provides its vital services for people suffering across a spectrum of critical diagnoses and reflecting the county’s diverse demographic

Informed by our belief in ‘food as medicine’, our healthy meals are medically tailored by our registered dieticians and chefs to meet the nutritional care required by our clients’ specific medical condition. Our clients, homebound and often living alone, are unable to shop and cook for themselves, and rely on Project Angel Food as a vital lifeline of nourishment and hope. Since our inception in 1989, Project Angel Food has delivered almost 9 million meals to over 15,000 people, a testament to the Agency’s ability to implement and sustain a successful home-delivered food and nutrition program over the last 25 years.

Join us for AIDS Walk Los Angeles in West Hollywood!

Since 1989, Project Angel Food has put love into action for people living with HIV/AIDS. On Sunday, Oct. 18, we’ll be walking once again in AIDS Walk Los Angeles.

Join our AIDS Walk LA team by walking, fundraising or just showing your support. As a Community Coalition Partner, 100% of what we raise comes directly to Project Angel Food.

Project Angel Food clients will soon find a sweet surprise at the door! A summer fruit bag filled with locally sourced oranges, nectarines and plums from Southern California farmers through a new Local Food Initiative.

Beginning today, the initiative will build Project Angel Food’s ongoing work to source more proteins, fruits and vegetables closer to home while strengthening relationships with local farmers and producers and creating a more connected regional food system.

Clients will receive three nectarines, two plums and two local oranges as part of the initiative which delivers 2,000 fruit bags per week or 14,000 pieces of fruit sourced from Old Orange Grove in Riverside.

In the eyes of our CEO, Richard Ayoub, "Project Angel Food has been deeply rooted in Los Angeles through the people we serve, the volunteers and supporters who power our mission, and the communities we reach every day. This initiative extends those roots in a new direction, connecting us more closely with the local farmers and producers who help nourish Southern California.”

Project Angel Food's first electric van has hit the road and is out delivering meals to clients all throughout Los Angeles County!

It's the first in our 37-year history and 17th in our fleet. The van can drive 130 miles on one charge and carry enough meals and supplement bags for up to 50 clients.

"This van symbolizes a new era in our fleet and delivery operations as we begin to electrify our fleet and ensure that our work is environmentally conscious," Senior Manager of Logistics Peter Cruz said. "The van will also help insulate our delivery operations from fluctuating gas prices, reduce fleet maintenance costs, and lower our carbon footprint as we deliver more than 120,000 meals per month throughout LA County."

A special thank you to The Takashi and Dorenda Cheng family for making the inaugural Special Baking Day at Project Angel Food an unforgettable morning.

Dozens of donors and staff members had a hands-on day of rolling, decorating and taste-testing delicious cookies alongside our very own Chef Veniece Hobby in our new kitchen at The Chuck Lorre Family Foundation Kitchen and Campus.

The Special Baking Day was our way of saying thank you for the incredible support and a way to share the joy of baking with family and friends.

Bryan Cranston brought a little “Walter White” chemistry to KTLA 5 Saturday night, surprising Noah Wyle, Eric McCormack and Steven Weber during Project Angel Food’s live benefit television special, Lead with Love: Going the Distance.

The unforgettable moment became one of the night’s biggest highlights as Project Angel Food’s annual broadcast raised $589,000, exceeding its half-million-dollar goal and helping keep medically tailored meals moving to critically ill people across Los Angeles County.

“Every dollar raised tonight keeps our vans on the road and our meals reaching neighbors in their greatest time of need,” Project Angel Food CEO Richard Ayoub said. “This is what Lead with Love has always stood for: dignity, nourishment and the very best of the human spirit.”
