Project Angel Food is Los Angeles’ leading non-profit provider of nutritional meals and counseling for people living with serious illnesses, such as cancer, heart disease, HIV/AIDS, and renal failure. Borne in response to the AIDS crisis, today Project Angel Food provides its vital services for people suffering across a spectrum of critical diagnoses and reflecting the county’s diverse demographics. Informed by our belief in ‘food as medicine’, our healthy meals are medically tailored by our registered dieticians and chefs to meet the nutritional care required by our clients’ specific medical condition. Our clients, homebound and often living alone, are unable to shop and cook for themselves, and rely on Project Angel Food as a vital lifeline of nourishment and hope. Since our inception in 1989, Project Angel Food has delivered almost 9 million meals to over 15,000 people, a testament to the Agency’s ability to implement and sustain a successful home-delivered food and nutrition program over the last 25 years.

Project Angel Food has just 20 VIP orchestra seats left for this exclusive performance, and we expect them to sell out quickly.

Philanthropist and Creative Artists Agency (CAA) Co-Chairman Kevin Huvane is making a transformational impact with Project Angel Food once again with the donation of the organization’s 17th van. Even more powerful, this van is dedicated to Huvane’s late father, Martin “Pop” Huvane, and will help deliver thousands of meals to critically ill clients all throughout Los Angeles County.

The new electric van was unveiled during a ceremony at CAA’s Los Angeles offices on Wednesday, Oct. 14, and features a tribute to Martin “Pop” Huvane with his image and a quote that says, “In loving memory of Martin “Pop” Huvane, whose big heart, quick wit, and unwavering integrity brightened the lives of everyone who knew him for nine remarkable decades.” The ceremony was attended by members of the Huvane family and friends, as well as Project Angel Food CEO Richard Ayoub and Chief Development Officer LaShanda Maze. It is the first electric van in the organization’s history.

“My father, Martin “Pop” Huvane, believed in showing up for people and helping wherever he could. Project Angel Food does that every day, delivering not only meals but also compassion and connection to those facing serious illness. Pop would have been delighted to know that this gift helps bring the organization's first electric delivery van into service, allowing them to reach even more people in need. Honoring him through an organization that so beautifully reflects his values is incredibly meaningful to our family,” Kevin Huvane, Co-Chairman, (CAA) said.

Project Angel Food's annual Angel Awards honored philanthropist and celebrated television writer-producer Chuck Lorre with the Founders Angel Award, the organization's highest honor, Saturday, Sept. 26, 2026, in Los Angeles. In Project Angel Food's nearly four-decade history, the award has been presented only once before — in 2014, to founder Marianne Williamson and her co-founders. The benefit raised more than a million dollars which will support the organization’s operating costs, as Project Angel Food prepares and delivers more than 1.5 million medically tailored meals each year to thousands of people living with life-threatening illnesses at zero cost to them.

Lorre's daughter, director Nikki Lorre, presented her father with the award, saying: “There is one thing that my father has taught me: it’s that we are stronger when we take care of each other… I know that all the shows he’s created, the stories he’s told and the laughter he’s evoked throughout the years will surely be the highlight of my dad’s legacy. But it’s his relentless, altruistic spirit that I will always hold closest to my heart and try, in any way I can, to live up to it.”

“My deep thanks to Project Angel Food. I consider it an absolute privilege to be participating in your mission. Having experienced hunger, this is personal for me. No matter how blessed I’ve been in my career, it’s hard to forget top ramen in hot water, or the high cuisine of ketchup soup.” said Chuck Lorre. “I’d love to express my gratitude to all of the people who’ve devoted their lives to making Project Angel Food an oasis for those in need.”
