Duder knows that all things are cyclical, but in our limited human experience, we perceive "endings". As the earth rotated around the sun for what we saw as 365 days, Duder met new people, saw new things, and went many places. It was a year like no other and his final post of gratitude is a small glimpse of his July time in San Diego and Anaheim. The boys of summer may be gone, but the memories are forever and the song remains the same. One love.

Duder knows the world is wide and adventure is a call to be answered, not ignored. With his one life, he knows he can't see it all, but he'll see nothing if he stays home. Duder saw rivers, beaches, and cities in his time in Spain and Portugal, but when in "Rome" do as the "Romans". So he participated in the live spectating of the "beautiful game" for both Real Madrid and FC Porto. Both were home team wins, but as a kind traveling visitor, Duder feels he was the big winner.

Duder knows humans' most valuable gifts are from the world around them. We share a gift economy with nature that is responsible for all we are despite how seemingly far from home we've run. He knows protecting our State and National Parks is a small obligation, but one we owe.

Duder knows it can be a modern human compulsion to burn through the journey to get to the destination so sometimes you have to be intentional in valuing the ride as much as the arrival. Drive the back roads and take in the whimsy.

Duder kicks it on Route 66 (pt 1), from OKC to McLean. Old buildings, rusted cars, storm chaser memorials, and restored gas stations all scattered along a stretch of highway long made irrelevant by the pursuit of progress but snugged safely into nostalgia. He even saw Mater.
