We’re excited to share the latest conversation in Design Luminaries series, featuring .
Thomas was one of the first designers we reached out to when we began this series, and we’re grateful he took the time to share his thoughts with such openness and generosity.
In this conversation, Thomas reflects on the path that has shaped his practice, from his experiences at Sweetgreen, COLLINS, and Wolff Olins to co-founding .work with Emily Morris.
What stood out most in our exchange was how grounded and candid his perspective felt. Behind a body of work many designers admire is someone who speaks thoughtfully and modestly about growth, uncertainty, collaboration, and the ongoing process of finding your own way through design.
We hope you enjoy this conversation as much as we did.

42 years.

That is how long AIGA Los Angeles has been here, gathering the people who shape how this city looks.

For our 42nd, we are making a book. It is called IN-COMMON PRACTICE: LA. An archive from across our community, designed not in isolation, but through shared practice.

A logo is rarely one hand’s work. It is shaped by the friend who reviewed your sketches at midnight, the client who pushed past your first idea, the city itself bending how you see. This book is a living record of that network.

Most logo books get built from proximity, from who knows who. We are building this one differently. An open call, because the LA design community is bigger and more textured than the rooms most archives are made in. Emerging voices alongside established names. Client work, self-initiated brands, personal pieces, experiments.

→ Non-members: up to 3 logos

→ AIGA LA members: unlimited (yep, that’s right!)

Submission link in bio. Tag a designer who should be in this book.

Submission Deadline: May 31, 2026

We are pleased to introduce Design Luminaries, an ongoing spotlight series by , dedicated to recognizing designers whose work contributes to the evolving conversation around contemporary practice.

Conceived as a platform to share perspectives, uncover processes, and strengthen connections within the design community, the series is presented in a Q&A format that brings together the ease of conversation with the depth of an interview.

We’re excited to share the first published conversation in the series, featuring , whose perspective helps set the tone for what’s to come.

This initiative is made possible through the collective efforts of the social team and the generosity of the design luminaries who have chosen to share their voices with us.

A sunny Saturday, warm spring air, and a room full of creatives ☀️

Last weekend, we gathered at in West Hollywood for a morning of connection. What started as a simple coffee meetup turned into easy conversations, familiar faces, and new connections forming over beautifully crafted cups.

Hosted by AIGA Los Angeles, with our board team bringing the community together, it felt like a true LA moment. Relaxed, open, and grounded in community.

Joined by AIGA LA board members, and surrounded by good energy all around, it was a reminder that sometimes the best thing you can do is simply show up and share space.

Grateful to everyone who came through. More soon.

Thank you to everyone who joined us for an inspiring evening with Hybrid Design ().

It was an incredible night of curiosity and community as Dora Drimalas () and Caleb Kozlowski () shared insights on building a meaningful design career and why staying curious is essential to creative growth.

We celebrated the launch of Hybrid: Curiosity in All Things, and 10 lucky designers went home with signed copies.

A special thank you to our host sponsor OUTFRONT Media () in Hollywood, and to the team for joining us and sharing more about the Adobe Creative Apprenticeship Program with our community.

Grateful to everyone who showed up, asked thoughtful questions, and helped make the night so memorable. We all left inspired.

Shoutout to for capturing photos throughout the evening, and all of our volunteers who helped make the night extra special!
