Congratulations to this year’s SYEP participants and thank you for your hard work and dedication to making your communities cleaner and better.

GAP was proud to hire six youths, ages 15 to 18, from Los Angeles City Council District 15 through the support and generous grant from the Port of Los Angeles. Participants supported the “Keep It Clean” initiative by hosting an e-waste event, cleaning various locations throughout the harbor area, and helping maintain a community garden through sustainability and groundskeeping efforts.

Through this experience, the youth developed pride, leadership, and discipline—skills that will help prepare them to become tomorrow’s leaders.

Thank you to The Port of LA, GAP staff, community leaders and families for the support of this program, and once again congratulations to the youths who participated in this year’s program.

This Saturday June 6, come and drop off your E-waste for FREE at 1148 N Avalon Blvd, Wilmington CA at the Gang Alternatives Program Learning Office, from 9am to 1pm.
Also, we will be giving out energy saving ligtbulbs and water saving showerheads FREE.
Join us to “Keep it Clean” in our community!
Did you know? Electronic waste (E-waste) is the fastest-growing household waste stream in the world. Every year, millions of tons of old phones, chargers, laptops, and appliances get tossed out.

Don’t Toss, Recycle: Find a certified e-waste recycler in your area. Many tech stores will take old electronics for free!
Before you throw away your next charger, cord, or laptop, take a second to look up a local e-waste drop-off site or a retail trade-in program.
We will accept:
Monitors and TV
computers
laptops
printers
phones
tablets
Keyboards, mice, cables
Audio/ Video equipment
small kitchen appliances
servers/network equipment
office electronics
hard drives/storage devices

We do not accept:
large appliances such as refrigerators
washing machine/dryers
copiers
hazardous materials
oils, paints, liquids
construction materials
household trash
grass, trees or wood
