Hello everyone! The current Samahang Pilipino Board 21-22 is collecting media (photos, videos, scans of docs, etc.) from all of the years of Samahang! We want to build up the material in our archives and use the media to put together a slideshow to play at our 50th Anniversary Gala on Saturday, May 28 (If you would like more information about the 50th Gala, please visit: https://tinyurl.com/sp50invitation).

Please fill out this form (https://tinyurl.com/sp50media) if you have any media that you would like to submit! If possible, please provide a description of the picture, with an estimated time that the media is from. We will do our best to put it in our feature slideshow that will be played throughout the event!

At the 50th Anniversary Gala, we will also be accepting any physical material that can be donated to our archives! Please go through your things from your time in Samahang and find anything you would like to store for future generations!

Pre-ordering for our 50th Anniversary shirts is now open! The shirts will be embroidered with the 50th Anniversary logo and are a symbol of this important milestone for Samahang and the Pilipinx community at UCLA.

We are reaching out to the community on behalf of Kristine Chua, a UCLA grad student, who is doing research on Pilipinx identifying pregnant AND non-pregnant mothers to study about how they think about mental health, their view on seeking mental health services, and how Filipino culture influences their views. Each year, Samahang Pilipino Board has the option of having specific appointed positions within the organization to aid in advocating and serving the Pilipinx/Pilipinx-American community. This year, SP Board is looking for individuals to fill the following positions:

As per discussions from earlier in the quarter, Samahang Pilipino has worked to finalize an organizational protocol for Sexual Violence / Sexual Harassment (SVSH) issues. These protocols were created in collaboration with various on-campus resources and in consultation with LGBTQ+ Pilipinx survivors. They are subject to change given any feedback from the community; updates will be announced and the community shall be notified if this occurs. Because of the brevity of situations of SVSH, we understand and recognize that protocols are merely a step in the right direction and thus call upon the larger community to join us as we actively make an effort to do and be better.
