We try to set everyone up for success with a new placement. These are additional tips from a wonderful dog centric publication.

How long does it take a dog to adjust to a new home? It depends on the dog, but with clear routines, and patience you can help a new dog adjust.

💔 Can You Help This Beautiful Boy? 💔

This sweet, fluffy boy was found wandering into a kind family’s backyard in Sperry, Oklahoma with an injured puppy. Sadly, the police would only take the injured puppy. When the family searched for the rest of his family, they found what appears to have been the puppy’s mother, who had tragically been struck and killed by a car.

Now this handsome boy is all alone.

The family and their neighbors don’t recognize him, and while they are making sure he has food, they are unable to keep him. He is friendly, gentle, and looks remarkably like a Leonberger. One of our LeoRescuePals volunteers will be meeting him soon to learn more.

In the meantime, we’re hoping the incredible dog-loving community can work its magic. ❤️

🏡 Is there anyone in or near Sperry, OK, who could foster or, even better, give this big, beautiful fluff his forever home?

Please share this post far and wide. The right person may be just one share away.

If you’re interested in helping, please send LeoRescuePals a message or comment below so we can connect you with our volunteer.

Let’s help this deserving boy find the happy ending he deserves. 🐾

Hans is available! He is currently in Northern California and can travel. He enjoys playing with dogs of all sizes. He is even respectful of senior dogs, not an easy ask for a young dog!

🎉 An Exciting New Chapter for Bruce! 🎉

We are thrilled to share that Bruce is now in a foster-to-adopt home! ❤️

After quite a journey, Bruce is settling in with a wonderful family who are giving him the opportunity to become a permanent member of their home. While it’s still early and we’re taking things one step at a time, we’re hopeful as Bruce adjusts to his new surroundings. Best of all, he now has a fellow Leonberger companion to share his days with—giving him a built-in friend for adventures, naps, and everything in between.

Thank you to everyone who followed Bruce’s story, shared his posts, supported his care, and cheered him on. Success stories like Bruce’s are only possible because of our amazing community.

We’re wishing Bruce and his foster-to-adopt family all the best as they get to know each other. 🐾❤️

🐾 Meet Rayla 🐾

Rayla is a 3-year-old spayed Leonberger mix looking for a new home due to circumstances beyond her owner’s control. Her family reports that she is a mix of Leonberger, St. Bernard, Newfoundland, and Great Pyrenees—and as her puppy photos show, she certainly inherited plenty of that Leonberger charm!

Located in Idaho, Rayla is up to date on her Rabies and Bordetella vaccines.

Rayla is a sweet girl who loves people, but she has had very little formal training. She walks reasonably well on leash but can become distracted by squirrels and neighborhood cats. She was raised with a cat and may be able to live with the right feline companion.

Rayla will thrive with a family committed to personally training with her and bonding with her along the journey, helping her build confidence and manners. She would do best as an only dog or with a medium-to-large male dog.

A securely fenced yard is important, as Rayla has been known to test boundaries and occasionally make a dash for open doors.

This affectionate girl isn’t aggressive—she simply needs a family willing to invest time, patience, and love into helping her become the best version of herself. In return, you’ll gain a loyal companion eager to be included in all of life’s adventures.

📣 UPDATE 📣

All ten of the dumped dogs in Whittier, CA have been rescued!

Leonberger Rescue Pals stepped up to take three of these deserving dogs into our care: Clancy, Freya, and Phoenix. We’re happy to report that they are settling in beautifully and enjoying being with kind people.

The rescuers describe them as:
🐾 “Super sweet!”
🐾 “Very friendly!”
🐾 “Playful!”

Clancy and Phoenix are both fluffy pups with coats that would make many Leonbergers proud, while Freya is sporting a sleek short coat and an easy-care lifestyle.

These dogs are active, eager to learn, and ready for adventure. Whether you’re interested in agility, Fast CAT, rally, obedience, hiking, or simply having a fun companion by your side, they would love to join you.

If you’re interested in fostering or adopting, please complete our online application.

Please like, share, and help Clancy, Freya, and Phoenix find the loving forever homes they deserve.

Meet Bruce 🤎

Bruce is a 5½-year-old neutered Leonberger (or mix?) who is coming into the care of Leonberger Rescue Pals after needing a new home very suddenly.

Bruce is an incredibly sweet boy who loves being close to his people. He has done wonderfully with cats, has been friendly with other dogs, is housebroken, and enjoys relaxing on the couch with his humans.

City life has been stressful for Bruce, and we believe he would thrive in a quieter home with a fenced yard, patient people, and room to decompress. A calm canine companion may also help him build confidence.

Bruce is currently in Pennsylvania.

He is already receiving veterinary care and support as he starts his next chapter with rescue.

Welcome to rescue, Bruce 🤎
