UAOCF Dedicated to lifting children out of poverty by providing education and foster care to Uganda orphans

The Uganda AIDS Orphan Children Foundation (UAOCF) is a non-profit charitable organization that aims to provide care to the growing number of vulnerable Ugandan children whose parents have died from Acquired Immune Deficiency Syndrome (AIDS). Our objective is to reach out to these orphaned and vulnerable children by providing assistance with their daily needs, health care and education. We specifi

cally target the underserved rural population in the four Ugandan districts of Kabale, Rukungiri, Kisoro and Kanungu. Our support focuses on education and our support of children in foster homes. UAOCF involves the community in both Uganda and the United States in its work. To fulfill our mission, every effort is made to provide compassionate, quality service to these Ugandan children, with a high standard of care and respect for their individual dignity and well-being. Although the UAOCF collaborates with a faith-based organization in Uganda, we care for children in our target area regardless of their faith or personal background.

ChildLine proves to be a lifeline. Many families have been hard hit
by the financial impact of COVID. Our “family” at UAOCF has too. We know some of our donors have struggled. That’s why we’re so moved by the response we receive to every edition of ChildLine, even during the pandemic: you learn about our children, and you want to help. Those little yellow envelopes keep our work going. Thank you for allowing us to make sure that at this most trying time, our children have food to eat, a safe place to live, and the best education we can give them! We deeply appreciate your support!

We want to share the story of Shallon K. She is so eloquent in the letter she wrote her UAOCF sponsor! Nothing we can say can top her own words. She wrote: “At the age of 7 I lost my parents. As a double orphan, without both parents, life became very miserable. I was like, God, where will I go? I looked around, the eyes could not see any light.” Imagine, just seven years old and living with such grief and pain! Shallon’s grandmother took her and her siblings in. Shallondescribes where they lived as “almost a collapsing house.”

The situation was desperate. That is, until a loving UAOCF sponsor changed everything! When she heard the news, Shallon “could not hide my joy and happiness…The new term opened and I was taken to a good school. I enjoyed all the best at school, completed primary level, and again was given a chance to be in the best
(secondary) girls schools.” Reading her letter, she seems almost unable to believe her luck. Thanks to UAOCF –thanks to you – she went from desperate and destitute to well cared for and full of hope!
