【Help Include Taiwanese American Stories in the Future National Asian Pacific American Museum!】

The National Asian Pacific American Museum Commission is currently conducting listening sessions and collecting written public comments to help shape its final report to Congress and the President. Established by Congress through H.R. 3525, later signed into law in 2022, the Commission launched its national listening tour in October 2025 and is expected to submit its feasibility report in October 2026. The final scheduled listening sessions are set for June 23, 2026, in Minneapolis and June 30, 2026, in Boston.

This is our chance to ensure Taiwanese Americans’ unique history, identity, migration experiences, languages, culture, civic participation, and community stories are seen, heard, and represented in the broader Asian Pacific American story.

Taiwan was excluded from the 14th WTO Ministerial Conference in Cameroon, forced to participate under official visas that list it as a "Province of China," or sit out of the conference they have full and equal participation in. The implication that Taiwan is not a WTO member in its own right is unacceptable.

I'm leading a bipartisan letter with Rep. Linda Sánchez & Rep. Adrian Smith demanding answers for Taiwan’s exclusion to ensure this does not happen again.

今年是第十次舉辦「台灣228防止政府暴行研討會」。由本分會主辦的跨族裔活動於3月1日在台灣人長輩會舉行，這也是首次移至台灣會館外舉辦。

FAPA-LA會長陳俊言（Alex）表示，跨族裔對話能讓不同社群分享經驗，強化抗衡威權的韌性。2026年大洛杉磯二二八追思活動總召集人李賢群也強調，「防止政府暴行」不僅是回首台灣歷史，更是為了連結當代人權議題，凝聚改革力量。

本次由FAPA洛杉磯分會執行團隊成員衛逸鳴代表介紹228事件，以深入淺出的方式讓與會者了解歷史背景，並引用台獨前輩莊秋雄的心聲，說明海外台灣人推動民主的歷程與心境。

洛杉磯羅興亞協會代表 Ko Ko Naing 揭露軍政府以「假選舉」包裝威權統治；維吾爾領袖 Mutalip Kurban 強調東突厥斯坦海外社群進行文化保存與倡議刻不容緩；香港論壇洛杉磯的 Charles Lam 教授呼籲支持美國國會《跨國鎮壓政策法案》（H.R.4829），以防中共黑手伸向海外；西語裔代表 Enrique Sanchez 則談及美國移民政策的爭議，以及委內瑞拉正處於脆弱的民主轉型期。

今年因228系列活動較多，加上場地與資源配置不同，跨族裔論壇籌備時間較短，但仍感謝當日出席的愛台鄉親與僑界領袖，包括國策顧問林榮松醫師、台灣會館副董事長蔡漢城、台灣優社社長潘掬慧、台灣茶葉大使許正龍等人。

「台灣人公共事務會」週末舉行年度倡議大會，手把手傳授台美人如何向自家州議員傳達台灣存亡與美國國安高度相關、推動友台法案。今年有112人參與，打破歷年紀錄，還有台裔阿拉斯加人專程飛越美國，上國會山莊發聲。
