The Florence Firestone Merchants Association (FFMA) is a non-profit organization with the purpose of helping the residents and merchants of our communities in desperate need of assistance in all aspects. We will provide the community with information and resources. Our goal is to bring awareness and empower our community. My journey began about six (6) years ago, when I started working as a Projec

t Coordinator for Florence Firestone Chamber of Commerce. I noticed the necessity that my community was in need. I also realized that there were much more can be done to help those in need. That’s why we created FFMA. Business Community -
We are here to assist the business owners to obtain the help they need to overcome the challenges they face each day during these economic. With free training in how to up-grade the way they run their business, new technology, customer service for their employees, health benefits, education, consultations and counseling to assist minority owned business with the tools to succeed, and where to find the moneys they need to expand their business. FFMA will assist the individual who wants to start a business from the conception to the end. Our mission is to provide development assistance advice and needed resources to small business so they can prosper. The purpose is to provide assistance entrepreneurs and business owners to maintain and grow their businesses by providing them with free business advice and counseling through business, health assessments, by preparing a business development correction plan, and customized training for owners and their staff whether is just starting a business or expanding a business or a non-profit organization. The Family –
As the demands in our community grow, it is important and essential that FFMA provides resources and assistance to individuals with programs and projects that will help them to grow as individuals and as family. We will bring to the community the importance of family cohesiveness, health issues, education, and the importance of community involvement. The programs will link the individuals, groups and families with volunteer projects, provide collaboration with agencies to enhance effectiveness; provide access to resources, information and referrals for common service. We are here to serve families with special needs; disabled family member, seniors, children; health and women’s issues and other programs that will empower our community. Helping families to improve the way they live by rehabilitating and beautification their homes. We will help the families to obtain the necessary means to start the transition by giving them the necessary tools to work in their homes. Healthy families are important and with the Cooking program, the families will learn how to prepare healthy meals for their family. The program demonstrate a receipt featuring a specific fruit or vegetable that is in season and available at the market. It will explain the nutritional value of each ingredient. This program is for mothers and their children. This program will help mothers to maintain healthy their children avoiding the different diseases and obesity. We will persist and determine to serve our community. Florence Firestone Merchants Association motto is “At your service…”

LA County to Celebrate Revitalized Florence-Firestone Small Businesses Through County Façade Improvement Program

Los Angeles, CA — The Los Angeles County Department of Economic Opportunity (DEO), Supervisor Holly J. Mitchell, the Los Angeles County Development Authority (LACDA), and community partners will host a ribbon-cutting celebration for two Florence-Firestone small businesses that recently completed storefront improvements through DEO’s RENOVATE Façade Improvement Program. These improvements are part of the County’s ongoing effort to stimulate inclusive economic growth and commercial corridor revitalization.

The event will celebrate the grand re-opening and revitalization of La Mexicana Meat Market and 99c Store, two longstanding community-serving businesses located along the Firestone Boulevard commercial corridor in unincorporated Los Angeles County.

Through the RENOVATE Program, eligible small businesses in historically disinvested communities receive no-cost exterior improvements, including paint, signage, lighting, accessibility upgrades, windows, doors, and other façade enhancements that support economic vitality, beautification, and business retention.
