Los Angeles Caregiver Resource Center

Los Angeles Caregiver Resource Center Welcome to the Los Angeles Caregiver Resource Center

At the Los Angeles Caregiver Resource Center (LA CRC), we support family caregivers in LA County who help an adult relative or friend (over the age of 18) affected by chronic and debilitating health conditions including dementia, Alzheimer’s disease, cerebrovascular diseases (such as stroke or aneurysms), degenerative diseases such as Parkinson’s, Huntington’s and multiple sclerosis, and traumatic

brain injury (TBI), among many others. Caregivers help with one or more of the following tasks: physical care (getting in and out of bed), making health care decisions, cooking, cleaning, yard work, managing medications and going to doctor visits, making important decisions, shopping for groceries and other items, legal issues, help with bill-paying, bathing and dressing, or providing transportation. LA CRC is a program of the USC Family Caregiver Support Center (USC FCSC), which is the community service arm of the Leonard Davis School of Gerontology.

Caregiving can sometimes feel isolating — but you don’t have to navigate it alone. 🤝 A support group can provide a place to connect with others who understand, share experiences, ask questions, and find encouragement along the way. If you’ve been wondering whether a support group might be right for you, this is a good place to start.

Behind every service is a person. 💌 This # NationalNonprofitDay, we’re celebrating the people who make that support possible—and the caregivers and families who inspire the work we do every day. Thank you to everyone who helps LA CRC strengthen the caregiving community.

Caregiver burnout can build gradually, making it easy to overlook until you’re already running on empty. 💌 Paying attention to how you’re feeling and making space for your own well-being can help you stay supported throughout the caregiving journey. Taking care of yourself isn’t separate from caregiving—it’s part of it.

Planning for the future can feel uncomfortable, but having these conversations before they’re urgently needed can bring greater clarity and peace of mind for everyone involved. 💭 A little preparation now can help make sure your wishes are understood, and the people you trust know how to support you when the time comes.

Caregiving can come with moments that leave you wondering, “What just happened?” Instead of taking a reaction at face value, pausing to consider what might be happening underneath can help shift the moment from frustration toward understanding.

Every person is different, and sometimes the smallest change in approach can make a meaningful difference.

A staycation can be a chance to recharge without going far from home. 🌿 For caregivers, that might mean exploring somewhere new, enjoying a slow morning, or—most importantly—making time to step away from caregiving responsibilities with support from family, friends, or respite services.
