Marie’s Story- “My life before coming to Lifeline was filled with fears, guilt, and hurt. I am a mother of three children. I’ve repeatedly let them down due to my drug addiction. It was until I lost my youngest child to child protective services at birth, that I started seeking help. My addiction kept getting worse and I frequently relapsed. I progressed from using m**h and P*P to using he**in and fentanyl, and I experienced four overdoses in six months prior to coming into Lifeline. I found myself in and out of jail then eventually on the run.
I did not come with the intention of changing and starting a new life. My goal was to escape the issues I had created for myself. I now see that God’s way is the only way. I stand here knowing that he did for me what I was unable to do for myself. I had nothing left to lose and was broken. Lifeline’s program structure has restored me back to my children by teaching me the value of being dependable in weekly phone calls and monthly passes. When I go home on passes, my daughter encourages me to keep doing what I’m doing because she sees som**hing different in me this time. I’ve been reunited with my family and am an example of God’s restoring power.
I am the first apostolic generation. I stand here 17 months sober, hopeful for the future. My plan after I graduate Lifeline Rehab is to bring my children, one at a time to New Life Christian Academy School, train them up in the ways of the Lord, and to marry a man of God, and have 2 more beautiful children. My 15 to 20 year vision is to open a Lifeline for women and children, and to serve God for the rest of my life.”

“My Life was very unstable before coming to Lifeline. I am a person who has struggled with mental health issues since I was young. I started taking psych meds at the age of 4 and have been on and off of them my entire life. I never found stability so I decided to take matters into my own hands and started doing drugs. I went through phases and cycles throughout the years. I was in and out of Psychiatric hospitals, rehabs, and long-term facilities. I looked towards drugs, chaos, witchcraft, and even physical perfection, but nothing took away the sad feeling of confusion and hopelessness of who I was and what the point of anything was. Lifeline changed my life. I’ve tried many different kinds of treatments, nothing ever worked. Lifeline has given me so much, it has taught me self- discipline, structure, and most importantly, it taught me how to have a relationship with God. I can confidently say I have found my peace and stability. I am sober, medication free, and I’m productive! I am in Phase 4 of the program, back in school, and shooting for a health science major. My goals are to get married, have a bunch of kids, and travel around the world, all while edifying the Kingdom of God.” ~ Angie Torres We are getting ready for the 25th Apostolic Jubilee happening on May 25th at Knotts Berry Farm. We would like to present to you an opportunity to sponsor a resident for $150. That would cover a Lifeliners’s ticket, food, t-shirt, and the gas. This is a fun and exciting outing we do every year and someone would greatly benefit from your donation.

Carlos Quezada came into Lifeline with a willing heart because he hit rock bottom. Carlos’s mother gave birth to him when she was just 15 years of age and his father abandoned him when Carlos was only 2 years old. Carlos’s family experienced homelessness to the point of needing a homeless shelter. Carlos said “I did not have much guidance growing up and started drinking heavily at a young age. Alcohol became my medication to deal with stress and anxiety. I became a slave to drinking and could not manage to stop no matter how hard I tried. With the help of my family, I reached out to some drug and alcohol rehabilitation centers but to no avail. Fortunately my sister knew about Lifeline Rehabilitation and referred me. I called and spoke to a staff member and by the grace of God they had beds available. When all doors were closed, Lifeline opened their doors to me and offered me a second chance.”
After graduating, Carlos’s life is filled with hope and promise because he knows the Lord has good plans for him.
Lifeline Rehabilitation and Prevention Center assisted Carlos in reestablishing and growing his personal relationship with Christ; teaching him how to use God’s Word to overcome his personal issues. Lifeline placed Carlos in leadership positions where he was trained in proper time management and how to be solution based. Lifeline also helped Carlos with personal budgeting and becoming financially independent.
We have an end of the year banquet at Luminarias Restaurant in Monterey Park on December 15th. The event will consist of great food, games, and a few speakers. We are planning to have our Lifeline men and ladies programs attend. We already have 17 covered, we need 3 more to be sponsored for $100. Karen Hirales didn’t have an addiction to drugs or alcohol. She was not our typical resident. Yet today, she is a successful Lifeline graduate! What caused her to join our program and what were we able to do for her?
Telling us her story, Karen said, “My life consisted of living every day in sadness and confusion. Waking up every morning without any drive or purpose, and crying myself to bed every night. My parents divorced when I was 8, and as an 8 year old, I did not understand why my father left. Why from one moment to the next he was no longer with us. No longer there to put me to bed. To pick me up from school. To kiss me goodbye in the morning. Life kept going, but my heart stayed hurting.
It wasn’t until I met a Lifeliner that things started changing within myself. I saw the love of God in him. I was desperate for that same love. I joined Lifeline and my heart was restored along with my relationship with God. I learned to forgive myself and to allow God to love me in my pain. The Lord taught me what it was to wait on Him, and boy did it break me. It was hard, but I knew I needed change. I am grateful to know that this was only the beginning of my walk with God and I’m excited to continue in it.
I want to share all the love that I received in Lifeline with everyone. I want to continue to follow God’s will in my life and to serve him in every way I can.”
Karen’s testimony reveals that addictions are not the sole problem. Rather, there are many deep rooted issues that produce unwanted symptoms in our lives. Lifeline’s mission is to deal with residents’ past traumas and their effects on the heart. We have given people the tools to overcome and live freely. Lifeline provides a safety net for any person facing difficult life circumstances. If anyone needs assistance you can call our office at 818-896-3840 Monday-Friday from 9am to 3pm.

We wanted to share this success story with you about a lady we have here at our program who is graduating this Sunday. Angelica came into Lifeline with no hope for the future. Angelica said “By the age of 15 I started to smoke w**d which led me down a slippery slope into being strung out with m**h by the age of 17. Whatever I could get my hands on I would use. Drugs destroyed my life and caused me to be in and out of all the wrong places like homelessness, mental hospitals, prostitution, and jail. I hated God and wished I was dead. People would tell me I wouldn’t live past 21, everyone gave up on me, I gave up on myself.”
Angelica continued and said “It’s literally a miracle to be able to graduate by the grace and mercy of God. I have a sound mind, completed school, and currently have a stable job. The things I am most grateful for is being filled with the Holy Ghost, being baptized, and I FINALLY have a healthy relationship with God. For the first time in my life I have hope to cope instead of that dope. I am grateful to be graduating Lifeline because many people said I would last just 2 weeks. I myself didn’t think I would last even a week, but God made it happen. For the first time I don’t have to say… What if I would have stayed? I am able to actually see the blessing on the other side.”
Angelica’s vision for the future is to become a Godly wife, mother, and to continue going deeper into her relationship with God. Also she has a desire to share with others what God has done in her walk with God. Lastly, Angelica said “If God did this for me He can and will do it for anyone else!”

As early as she can remember, Ashley’s mom was addicted to m**h. Her father left their family of 15 when Ashley turned 2. Ashley told us, “Because I was abused physically, mentally, and verbally. I would cry myself to sleep each night.” By the age of 15, Ashley started popping pills and drinking heavily. These were her futile attempts at drowning out the chaos that reigned in her house. She can recall the nights her mom would bring strangers home. Heartbreakingly, these strangers would turn their attention toward Ashley and abuse her. At the age of 17 Ashley found herself exacting the same abuse in her surrounding relationships. After losing her grandmother at 19, Ashley gave in to all of her temptations. After being kicked out of her house, she found herself sleeping on a park bench. It was at her lowest moment she cried out to Jesus. A pastor who was sharing the gospel in the park found her in such a broken condition. Selflessly, he and his wife opened their own home to her. After 3 months, the pastor recommended Lifeline to her. She reached out to us and we were able to take her in.
Ashley has been with Lifeline for over a year. Ashley says “Jesus is moving in my life and in my family’s life! Lifeline has given me time to heal and has helped my family see som**hing different in me. They actually want to be around me! Because God is working in me, I now have a sound mind and no longer need drugs or people to fill the void.”
