Of Substance’s original romantic comedy, FIRST DATE, is having its festival premiere at the REEL Recover Film Festival this weekend!
If you’re in the greater Los Angeles area, we’d love to see you there.

First Date is a fun, charming and authentic journey through a night out as a newly sober individual, teeming with anxiety and laughs while more deeply exploring the masks we ALL wear and what it looks like when we take them off.

The REEL Recovery Film Festival is a staple in the addiction community and has been supporting artistic and talented storytellers share their authentic stories and voices through cinema for over a decade.

The Position: Project Manager/Coordinator
Of Substance is currently seeking support in the area of project management and coordination.
We are always juggling many projects and opportunities of all kinds in many areas - including film development and release, community engagement and impact, marketing and PR, curriculum and other programming development, fundraising and partnerships, screenings and other events, and more.
We're grateful to have so much interest in our work and a quickly growing plate of tremendous opportunities, however as a young nonprofit we only have so many resources - from time to people to funding - that allow us to succeed in converting these opportunities into projects and executing on them once they're activated.
So, if you're a passionate and insightful individual adept at navigating the prioritization and ex*****on of these opportunities and projects, we're looking for you to join our team!

General Responsibilities & Expectations:
- Meeting with the Executive Director for weekly progress and strategy meetings- Helping on the assigning of projects to our growing team
- Fleshing out details of ongoing projects
- Keeping team organized and on track as together we see projects to completion
- 2-5 hrs/week depending on weekly needs
- Volunteer/Unpaid

Cannot believe it was just a week ago that I was in Maryland supporting the great who ran 30 hours straight to celebrate his 30 years sober!

His ability to do this honestly doesn’t surprise me, nor does the massive community of supporters who came together to surround him with love…
BUT I was surprised as hell when they asked me my name and gave ME a runners number… 🥸
