What will stop the leak?

Right now, the Black educator pipeline is leaking at every stage—
from recruitment to retention.
But we know what works.

We’re urging legislators to support real solutions:
$100M investment in the Golden State Teacher Grant
$Support for ACA 7 to restore race-conscious policymaking
$10M/year to fund the Diverse Education Leadership Pipeline Initiative (DELPI)

On April 7, we’re bringing this directly to the Capitol with the Aya Education Coalition.
Because the goal isn’t just to bring Black educators in, It’s to ensure we can stay, thrive, and lead.

✨ On Saturday, September 13th, we had the opportunity to co-create a space that honored the brilliance, joy, and resilience of Black educators. In collaboration with The Teaching Well, we held space for Black educators across Los Angeles to:

🌿Reclaim Rest
🌿Engage in Radical Healing Practices
🌿Storytelling and Connection
🌿Reimagine Sustainability

Educators left feeling replenished and equipped to start the school year with wellness at the forefront. 💛

This retreat, hosted by Black Educator Advocates Network and is a space to breathe, reconnect, and prepare for the school year ahead—mind, body, and spirit.

✨ Workshops include:
▪️ Reclaiming Rest as resistance
▪️ Radical Healing Practices grounded in African traditions
▪️ Storytelling & Connection
▪️ Reimagining Sustainability within our systems

This isn’t just a retreat—it’s a return to ourselves.

🖊️ Save the date & share with a Black educator in your life who deserves this moment of joy and restoration.

Today we honor Juneteenth not just as a day of emancipation, but as a reminder that freedom delayed is still freedom denied.

We celebrate our ancestors’ joy in 1865 when the last enslaved Black people were told they were free two and a half years after the Emancipation Proclamation.

But let’s be clear:
Juneteenth is not the end of the story it’s a call to keep building liberation.
Because the chains didn’t all break in Galveston.
They just changed shape.
🧱 In schools that erase our history
🚨 In systems that criminalize our children
💼 In workplaces that exploit and silence Black voices

So today, we celebrate. We remember. We organize.
Freedom is not a single moment.
It’s a continuous, collective push and we’re still in it.
