In the nearly four years since the overturning of Roe v. Wade, California has led the nation in enacting 31 pro-abortion laws and investing $200 million to protect and expand access to abortion care for all people in the state. Yet, we are not immune to the attacks on reproductive freedom from the federal government. The California Future of Abortion Council (FAB Council) – an independent project of CCRF – released a new expert-informed report outlining 48 policy recommendations state leaders can pursue to protect the progress we’ve made and continue expanding equitable access to abortion care amid unrelenting federal attacks on reproductive health, rights and justice. We look forward to working with state leaders to advance and implement the policy recommendations outlined in this report to protect abortion access in the state. Last month, the CA Coalition for Reproductive Freedom gathered in person for the first time since the COVID-19 pandemic. It was a powerful convening of more than 30 reproductive health, rights and justice warriors with one unifying goal in mind: ensuring California lives up to its promise of being a reproductive freedom state!
