Hands For Tanz is a fundraising event to benefit an artists’ community established as a safe haven for homeless youth in Tanzania, Africa. The project was conceived by photographer Nichole McCall after visiting the The Roots and Culture Foundation Artist Collective in Mwanza, Tanzania in February of 2012. She produced a small film and a series of photos documenting their work, and took with her nu

merous paintings to sell back in the United States. The Roots and Culture Shop Artist Collective was founded by Joseph Mwandwanga seven years ago as a creative sanctuary for homeless children. The school teaches arts and crafts, providing students with a cultural education and job skills. Many of the pieces produced are of the breathtaking Serengeti and its people. The Hands For Tanz event will be held in Hollywood in June of 2013, and will feature original paintings created by the Roots Artist Collective, as well as photos and video of the painters. The show in Hollywood was a great success! We sold this amazing painting by Mocha, as well as four others - two by Johnson, one by Livin and one by art school founder Ras Joseph. Stay tuned because we are already working on getting more paintings from Tanzania for another show.
