LEST WE FORGET....

Black August honors resistance against state-santioned oppression, police terror and systemic racism. The 1965 Watts Revolt is viewed as an early, massive, manifestation of collective resistance against these conditions.

The 1965 Watts Revolt (Aug. 11-16,1965) is widely commemorated and included by historians and activists as a foundational milestone within the historical timeline of Black August. It is even seen by some as a precursor to the Black Power movement.

WANNA PLAY?? ⛹🏽
Announcing....The All-Stars vs the Super Stars Community Basketball Game returns for the third year!

This game, which honors the legacy of Coach Clarence Mackey, pitts the All-Stars (coed-aged 14-25) against the Super Stars (coed- aged 26 +) for action packed energy and fun.

The game will take place on Sat. Aug. 8th at 9:00am on the B-ball courts at Ted Watkins Park

Currently, the teams are tied with the Super Stars winning in 2024 and the All Stars winning in 2025. Whoo-wee!! Who will win in 2026⛹🏽

Mandatory registration for anyone interested in joining a team is on Sat. August 1st at Ted Watkins Park - 11:30am. (By the gym)

Flashback 2025:
Watts Summer Festival All Stars vs Super Stars Community Basketball game.
We are sharing photos from our second event with the All Stars (coed 14-25 yrs old) versus the Super Stars (coed aged 26+).

In 2024 the Super Stars won. In 2025 the All Stars won. It's anybody's guess who will rule the court this year.⛹🏽‍♀️ The game takes place on Sat. Aug. 8th as part of the 2926 Watts Summer Festival.

Members of the community are invited to participate.

A registration meeting will take place at 11:30am on Sat Aug 1st at the park.
