Federal funding for maintaining and enhancing the nation's long-running economic and labor market data series should be a no-brainer. These surveys include the US Bureau of Labor Statistics' Current Population Survey, the U.S. Census Bureau's American Community Survey, and so on. We all rely upon this information everyday, knowingly or not.

Accurate U.S. Census Bureau data are essential to understanding how Americans are doing financially; a lack of proper investment puts it at risk.
