Headed to NYC this morning. For as long as I’ve been flying, and as the baby of the family peeking her head out on the end there, it’s been a long time! I’ve never heard this one until now…the airplane is here in the hanger, but they “can’t get it started.” Not a missing part, or missing crew, just can’t get it to start. I feel like I’m back in high school with my little VW 🐰. If it was cold, I was going to be late to work because she like me, did not like the cold. Come on Delta! You got this! Let’s go! 🙌🏼✈️ Update in the voice of Morgan Freeman: “But Delta did not, in fact, have this. Delta would go on to start with a 75 minute delay… The Guggenheim and a Broadway show still in her reach, our heroine of our story sipped her coffee and kept a mindset of hopeful curiosity about her day.”

Traveling home to my hometown of Indy today, from my mother’s hometown of Boston where she met Dad in the ‘50’s. Happens to be that 15 years ago today, we laid him to rest. Life. Grab it, because as I told the crowd last night - “I flew in from Indiana to do this event, and I walked all around your town. There’s A LOT of cemeteries out there! They are packed in tight and you can’t take it with you!!” The crowd laughed, and we had a lovely evening raising donations for Women Entrepreneurs. Often times the first in their family to go to college, often times they didn’t get the opportunity to do that, but these women are holding up their families and communities with their businesses. I love it!

Come get coffee with me! How cute is my path to caffeine each morning? I ❤️ architectural cuteness. And a cute little radio station doing its thing? My favorite vision this morning is a female pilot in her flight suit at Starbucks. She stopped me in my tracks and I practically stared, realizing she was the first woman in a flight suit I’d ever seen I think. It was all I could do to stop myself from asking if I could take her picture. Now I know how people feel about me when they say “I’ve never seen a female auctioneer before!” Wow we’ve got a long way to go. Good thing we met our goal last night for scholarships for Women in Auto Care!! The idea that women don’t need education is as recent as my uber intelligent mother. She told me her father didn’t think she needed an education, but she ended up getting her Masters Degree later in life, and set up the expectation that all her children would go to college. Needing help is as recent as me. I got a “scholarship” to go to Auctioneer School. Without that financial help would I be where I am today? If we aren’t here to help each other, then I don’t know what we are doing here. I deeply believe in what I do for a living, especially when it comes to working with women’s organizations. Thank you for allowing me to be a part of your Big Night!

I’m calling this one “Paws,” a humorous take on the word Pause. Pause, because it’s the best way to find the best answer for a peaceful experience of living. Don’t jump to react, pause to reflect, pause to find compassion rather than judgment, pause. Pause, because when you put your hands in exactly this position, you can feel the restraint this person has, the pause within himself, the self control. “Paws” because when I told the name of the etching she said “Paws? Like 🐈‍⬛ 🐾 ?” And started making cat noises, then I did, then we giggled so hard I changed the name of the etching. I had been enamored of etching since I was 20 and fell in love with Albrecht Durer’s “Melancholia.” The process mystified me. The third picture is me ripping the veil off that mystery and pressing my first etching. I’d have never thought to take the class without Sam’s suggestion, and now I can’t stop thinking about what’s next. It is a detail of a painting by one of my favorite artists of all time, the great Paul Pletka.

Stand Up Comedy at its grass roots finest at the Frankfort Eagles Lodge. So many highlights! Got to do comedy with my OG comedy bestie , first time my handsome husband saw me do a set, reconnected with an old pal from the comedy road. Thanks to for the stage time!! Just a classic night of silly giggles.
