Today, and every day, we honor Rosie Jiménez.

48 years ago, Rosie — a young Texas woman with a whole life ahead of her — died because the Hyde Amendment denied her access to abortion care. Her death was the result of a racist, classist policy that continues to shape who can access reproductive healthcare.

Rosie’s story reminds us that reproductive justice is about more than abortion access. It’s about whether our communities can actually access care without barriers created by race, income, immigration status, or fear of immigration enforcement.

Through Vidas Sin Fronteras, we’re imagining a future where borders, policies, citizenship status, and the ability to pay don’t determine who gets to make decisions about their bodies, families, and futures.

We honor Rosie by remembering, resisting, and building toward that future — together. ✊🏽 A Reproductive Justice Future doesn't just have to be imagined. It can be real, join us today at Espacio 1839 and join the fight towards liberating our comunidades.

Based out of the Eastside Cafe, Son Del Sereno is a Son Jarocho collective that uses the cultural practice of ✨fandango✨ to foster community, cultural resistance, and a shared vision of autonomy, mutual care, and liberation.

Son Jarocho is a traditional music from Veracruz, Mexico that has Afro-Indigenous and campesino roots. For centuries, it has grounded community gatherings called fandangos and empowered people in Veracruz and beyond to document their histories, uplift struggles for justice, and advocate for dignified lives and environments.

Come to Espacio 1839 on October 3rd at 6 PM to listen to some sones and dream up a better world 🌍Don’t forget your huaraches to get on the tarima!

LINK IN BIO: CLRJ is honored to invite to open our Vidas Sin Fronteras fundraiser with a dance performance rooted in ancestral connection, ceremony, and resistencia. Las macheteras are a powerful embodiment of the revolutionary feminine energy we will harness at our gathering to world-build toward a Reproductive Justice future together.

Their group emerged through the yielding of their joy and rage to dissolve borders, gender stereotypes, and the patriarchy. They uplift and celebrate the indigenous matriarchs of their lineages, her unrecognized labor, strength and wisdom; they wield the machete as an honor to mothers that tend to Madre Tierra. 🪶🌱

Building off the foundation of ballet folklórico, Malditas Macheteras will perform dance as a spiritual practice and bring traditions of zapateado and vestuario from all regions.

Join us before 6 PM at Espacio 1839 on October 3rd to catch their performance and support CLRJ’s work for immigrant justice as reproductive justice.

All ages welcome, come hang with CLRJ.

Our submissions are officially closed, and we are incredibly grateful for the overwhelming response. We received so many powerful and beautiful pieces, and we appreciate every artist who shared their work and helped us imagine a reproductive justice future.

Our team is now reviewing submissions and will be reaching out directly to the artists whose work we’re able to include in the show. We wish we could showcase every piece, but we are deeply grateful to everyone who submitted and showed up for this vision.

Thank you to everyone who came to CLRJ's Young Parent's Day 2026! We are grateful for all our supporters who helped us celebrate young parents in Bell Gardens.

Young parents deserve to be seen, celebrated, and supported not judged or stigmatized. Reproductive justice means honoring young people’s right to decide if, when, and how to parent, and ensuring that young families have the resources, dignity, and support they need to thrive. Thank you to every young parent, family, community partner, and supporter who made this celebration so special. Together, we’re building a future where young families can dream, grow, and thrive on their own terms. ✨
