STSM TRAINEE PROFILE

Name: Ian Kang
Year: Sophomore
Major: Music Industry
Country/Region: Nicaragua

Hi, my name is Ian Kang, and this summer I will be going to Nicaragua for missions!

Since transferring to USC last fall, God has blessed me with a great community and friends, and has taught me so many things. One of the things that I learned was that God reveals Himself to the one who pursues Him with their whole heart. This summer, I didn’t think I would be going on missions, but the Lord brought my small interest in STSM to a conviction to go and serve Him and grow deeper in my relationship with God through missions. As the couple of days before my send-off approach, I am just so excited to see what God has prepared for me.

Ian’s Prayer Requests:
Please pray
- For God to strongly work in the people of Nicaragua and for them to experience Him
- For this mission trip to glorify God and a chance to get even deeper in a relationship with Him
- For the safety, health, and energy of my team members and me, and the team’s unity, we would unite as Christ and work hard for the same goal.

Name: Abbie Shin
Year: Freshman
Major: Public Relations & Advertising
Country/Region: Philippines

Hi! I’m Abbie and I have the privilege of serving on a mission trip in the Philippines this summer!

God has continually shown me His faithfulness and love in ways I could never deserve. Even in my imperfections, He has pursued me and invited me into a relationship with Him that has transformed my life. Because of the joy I have found in Christ, I desire to be used by Him to share that same love with others. As I prepare to serve in the Philippines, I’m excited to see how God will work in the lives of the people we meet and in my own heart as well.

My prayer is that through every conversation, relationship, and opportunity to serve, others would experience the love of Jesus and come to know Him more deeply. I’m so grateful for this opportunity and can’t wait to see all that God has planned for this summer!

Name: Owen Lee

Country/Region: Taiwan

Hi, my name is Owen Lee and I’m so excited to go to Taiwan for missions this summer!

God has really changed and worked through me through KCM this past semester, and I’m so grateful for the opportunities he has given me! He has blessed me through this amazing community that has made pursuing God so rewarding. My realization of God’s love for me made me want to pursue him further through missions, where I can learn more about him in Taiwan and how he works there. I’ve never been on missions before, so I’m trusting in God that he will provide and reveal himself to me on this trip. I’m looking forward to all the amazing things he has in store for me!

COMMITTEE SPOTLIGHTS: PRAYER

Our prayer committee brings youthful energy to our ministry by leading our prayer events like MNP and EMP and guiding our ministry to be one that is prayerful. They never cease to pray for our campus and all of our requests from early morning to late at night. Serving Takeaway: I was deeply blessed to witness the hunger for God in our ministry and it reminded me that our God is personal and intimate. He meets us right where we are!

Serving Takeaway: Through serving prayer I really felt how powerful prayer can be and encouraged me to pray more often. I was glad that I was able to grow in my faith during this journey and hopefully helped others during the process as well. I couldn’t have asked for a better committee and a better serving experience!

The USC campus and the surrounding community is USCKCM’s mission field. Our outreach committee is responsible for the important task of organizing amazing events like EVs and Care Packages where we can share the love of Christ and spread the gospel close to campus!

We make graphics, organize pictures, and oversee all of our social media platforms (including this post!). We are also probably the most awesome committee of course 💁‍♀️.
