昨日の二世ウィークグランドパレード出陣前。パレードを見に来てくださった方、日本から応援に来てくださった方、一般参加の方、サポートをどうもありがとうございました。さて、まずは以前のクイズの答えです。「けっぱれ」「らっせら」＋「Let`s Go Dodgers」の書は「公時」ねぶたに合体し屈強な曳き手たちを迎えました。久々に義経と２台並んだねぶたに圧倒されました。
Here is a look at the moments before we set out for yesterday's Nisei Week Grand Parade. Thank you so much to everyone who came to watch the parade, those who traveled from Japan to cheer us on, the general participants, and everyone who provided support. Now, first up: the answer to the previous quiz. The calligraphy featuring the phrases "Keppare" (Give it your all), "Rassera," and "Let's Go Dodgers" was incorporated into the "Kintoki" Nebuta float, where it greeted the team of sturdy pushers.For the first time in a long while, I was overwhelmed by the sight of the Yosh*tsune float standing side-by-side with the other one.

2017年10月の投稿を振り返ります。竹浪比呂央先生　手塚茂樹先生の指導のもとにLAねぶたのメンバーが参加して制作したねぶた「公時」です。初出陣は2017年のハリウッドクリスマスパレード。大舞台の熱狂のもと、日本からも大勢の参加者がありました。このねぶたもまだ現役。今週末の二世ウィークパレードに義経ねぶたとともに出陣予定です。20周年を祝して日本からのお囃子、ハネトの応援参加者がまもなく渡米します。

Looking back at a post from October 2017, here is the "Kintoki" Nebuta float, created by LA Nebuta members under the guidance of Mr. Hiroo Takenami and Mr. Shigeki Tezuka. It made its debut at the 2017 Hollywood Christmas Parade, an event that drew a massive crowd—including many participants from Japan—and generated incredible excitement. This Nebuta is still in active use; it is scheduled to appear in this weekend's Nisei Week Parade alongside the "Yosh*tsune" Nebuta. To celebrate our 20th anniversary, a group of ohayashi (traditional musicians) and haneto dancers from Japan will soon be arriving to join the festivities.

竹浪比呂央先生が本年の青森ねぶた大賞および最優秀制作者賞を受賞されました。おめでとうございます。
この過去の投稿は2015年に竹浪先生にLAねぶたのために制作していただいた「津軽海峡　義経渡海」の初運行の様子です。このねぶたは今年も現役、二世ウィークパレードに出陣します。ねぶた名人の手によるこのねぶたを一緒に引きませんか？

Congratulations to Mr. Hiroo Takenami on winning this year's Aomori Nebuta Grand Prize and the Best Creator Award. This post features the debut run of "Tsugaru Strait: Yosh*tsune Crossing the Sea," a float Mr. Takenami created for the LA Nebuta in 2015. This float remains active and will appear in the Nisei Week Parade again this year. Would you like to join us in pulling this float, crafted by a master Nebuta artist?

昨日は2月から作業していた台座パネルのお化粧直しが完成。太鼓を外に設置しました。本番に向けて新しいハネト、お囃子メンバーが練習に加わりました。気温35℃、室内避難しながらの練習はなかなか過酷！

Yesterday, we finished refurbishing the float base panels—a project we’ve been working on since February—and set up the taiko*drums outside. New Haneto dancers and Ohayashi members have joined our rehearsals in preparation for the big day. Practicing in 95F heat—while having to take breaks indoors to cool off—is pretty grueling!

LAねぶた20周年：本番まで１ヶ月！　７月１７日の集まりでは長時間のお囃子演奏に備えた練習を開始。ワールドカップの３位決定戦が気になるメンバーもいた様子。２月より修復中の台車パネルはようやく最終段階に突入しました。

LA Nebuta 20th Anniversary: Just one month to go! At the July 17th gathering, the team began practicing for the long ohayashi performance. Some members seemed distracted by the World Cup third-place play-off match. Meanwhile, work on the float panels—undergoing restoration since February—has finally entered its final stage.

７月１１日　ノバビタ夏祭りで演奏しました。サマーキャンプで練習してきた子供たちもハネトに加わりましたが、初めて聞いた大太鼓の音にびっくりするやら困惑するやら。ハネトのおじさんとおばさんに手を取られてようやく動き出した子供達と微笑ましく楽しい時間を過ごしました。
私たちのねぶた本番は８月１６日の二世ウィークパレードです。間もなく当日の一般参加募集（ハネト、曳き手、ボランティア）の投稿をします。お待ちください。お囃子も募集中です。７月は毎週土曜日１時から３時にお囃子練習、ねぶた仕上げのために集まります。

On July 11th, we performed at the Nova-Vita Summer Festival. Children who had been practicing during their summer camp joined the Haneto dancers, though they were initially startled and bewildered by the sound of the large taiko drums—a sound they were hearing for the first time. It was a heartwarming and delightful time as the children finally began to move, guided by the hands of the adult Haneto dancers.
Our Nebuta event is the Nisei Week Parade on August 16th. We will soon be posting a call for general participants—including haneto dancers, float pushers, and volunteers—so please stay tuned. We are also recruiting musicians for the ohayashi (festival music) ensemble; throughout July, we will be gathering every Saturday from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM for music practice and to put the finishing touches on the Nebuta float.

LA近郊の皆さま！　来週の土曜日７月１１日にLAねぶた囃子はノバビタ夏祭り＠アーバインの田中ファームで演奏します。１１時と１１時半の２回です。サマーキャンプでねぶたのリズムに触れている子供たちも一緒に跳ねます。二世ウィークパレード（８月１６日）の一般参加者登録がその日にできるよう準備していますので、私たちのブースにいらしてくださいね
To everyone in the LA area! Next week Saturday, July 11, LA Nebuta Hayashi will be performing at the Nova Vita Summer Festival at Tanaka Farms in Irvine. We will hold two performances: one at 11:00 AM and another at 11:30 AM. We will be joined by children who have been experiencing Nebuta rhythms through their summer camp. We are also preparing to accept general participant registrations for the Nisei Week Parade (August 16) on that day, so please be sure to stop by our booth!

20周年LAねぶたのスペシャルアイテムをお見せします。太鼓手であり書家でもあるメンバー（ビデオ一番奥）による作品です。二世ウィークパレードLAねぶたのどこに出現するのか乞うご期待。パレード参加者の一般募集は準備が整い次第ポストします。一緒に跳ねたい方、曳きたい方、LA在住者も旅行者もお待ちしています。お囃子は年中募集してます。次の練習日は６月２０日です。
Here are special items for the LA Nebuta 20th anniversary. It was created by one of our members—a taiko drummer and calligrapher (seen at the very back of the video). Stay tuned to see where it will appear during the Nisei Week Parade! We will post details on general participant recruitment as soon as everything is ready. We welcome everyone—whether you live in LA or are just visiting—to join us in dancing or pulling the float. We are also recruiting for the ohayashi (musical accompaniment) team year-round. Our next practice session is on June 20th.

８月の2世ウィークパレードに向けて練習中。青森からエルヴィス★トキさんが再訪してくださり、ハネトで参加。はるばるサンフランシスコ地域からの新加入もあり、LAねぶたはパワーアップした20周年の運行を目指しています。次の練習日は５月１６日です。
We are currently practicing for the Nisei Week Parade in August. Elvis★Toki revisited us from Aomori and joined us as a Haneto dancer. With new members joining us all the way from the San Francisco Bay Area, LA Nebuta is gearing up for a powerful and enhanced performance to mark our 20th anniversary. Our next practice is scheduled for May 16th.
