Big News: New Partners Join the Fight for Community Ownership!
We’re thrilled to announce two incredible new partners in our mission to preserve housing stability and community ownership on Lucile Ave!
✨ Union de Vecinos and Elizabeth Blaney – A powerhouse in tenant organizing, Union de Vecinos and our Tenant Association (TA) share a commitment to defending our neighborhood, stopping predatory developers, and preserving Rent Stabilized (RSO) housing at reasonable rents. We’re especially excited to be working closely with Elizabeth Blaney, whose deep experience in housing justice and community organizing is already strengthening our efforts. With their support, we can build stronger protections for low-income and non-English speaking tenants in our area, shielding them from landlord harassment and eviction. We’re honored to stand alongside them in this fight!

✨ Kim Pate – A champion of economic justice and community-led development, Kim brings years of expertise in cooperative models and financial strategies that empower communities. As a leader at NDN Collective (https://ndncollective.org/team/kim-pate-2/), she has worked to secure Indigenous land and economic sovereignty. Now, she’s lending her skills to help us research city and state grants for 2025, building the financial foundation we need to make tenant-led ownership a reality.

We’re also grateful to Chris Tyler, a dedicated organizer with the Los Angeles Tenants Union, for his invaluable grant research support. Together, this growing network of organizers, advocates, and tenants is proving that collective action is the key to protecting our homes and our community.
