Local 600 sponsored a booth and a panel at Cine Gear LA this past weekend. The panel, “Breaking Old Silos with Virtualized Prep,” discussed how new technologies and prep methods developed for VFX and virtual production, including early integration across multiple departments in pre-production, can also be used to improve planning and coordination for traditional and live productions. This week, Local 600 members and leadership participated in two events in New York, the annual Entertainment Community Fund Gala and a happy hour hosted by the Eastern Region Women's Committee. Funds from the gala will support the health and wellness, career and life, and housing services ECF offers to members of our entertainment community. The Eastern Region Women's Committee hosted a Happy Hour at Wilka's Bar in New York City. Thanks to all who attended.

The LA Young Workers are hosting their annual camera department yard sale at the Local 600 Los Angeles Office on Saturday, May 30. In addition to multiple vendors, there will be a food truck and an opportunity to drop off any e-waste and textiles for recycling.

The ICG National Training Committee is hosting an “Ask Me Anything: Paperwork” session via Zoom on May 31. This training is designed to demystify the ins and outs of camera department documentation. This interactive, three-hour Zoom training offers a freeform Q&A and open discussion format, giving participants the opportunity to ask real-world questions about everything from schedule and payroll paperwork to camera reports, logs, and purchase orders. The IATSE has secured a union contract for the crew of "Beast Games." This contract will cover over 500 crew members, including 152 Local 600 members.

Members will receive back pay and benefits for the pre-production work already completed, and this agreement will cover this season and subsequent seasons.

The IATSE is currently on strike in Sun Valley, CA, on the live action series "CoComelon: The Melon Patch," being produced by MOONBUG.

Rather than provide fair wages and benefits to the crew, the producer is trying to hire scabs for the production.

The union is attempting to ink a union contract for the second season of the YouTube series, which is geared toward toddlers.
