Just listened to Innovation-ish: How Anyone Can Create Breakthrough Solutions with Rich Braden on Steven Gardner’s Ivy League Prep Academy podcast and I had to share this with my Soaring Samaritans community 🌍

This episode really connects with the work I am doing. It breaks down creativity and innovation in a way that is simple, real, and something anyone can use. The biggest message is that innovation is not just for a few people. It is for everyone.

What stood out to me most was the focus on mindset. How you think shapes how you act, how you solve problems, and how you build. This is something I see every day working with youth creating businesses in underserved communities.

That is why I want all of you to start combining what we learn in Soaring Samaritans with ideas from this episode. We are already taking action and building real businesses. Now add this way of thinking on top of it and watch how much stronger your ideas become.

Listen to it. Think about it. Then apply it.

Thank you to everyone who supported our delivery to Ranfurly Homes for Children in Nassau, Bahamas. Since 1956, Ranfurly has provided a safe, structured home for Bahamian children in need, with a focus on helping each child grow emotionally, physically, and educationally while preparing them for independence.

During our visit, we delivered essential items, toys, books, and indestructible soccer balls. We also hosted a financial literacy workshop using our BizSense worksheets, walking students step by step through how to create a small business from their personal hobbies and passions.

To put those ideas into action, the kids explored entrepreneurship through creativity, including beading and bracelet-making. Their originality, focus, and pride in what they created was unforgettable.

As we head into the new year, we are grateful for every person who donated, shared, and supported. Your generosity helps us show up with practical resources, encouragement, and tools that expand what youth can imagine for themselves.

Happy New Year. Cheers to 11 years of Soaring Samaritans Youth Movement, and thank you to our community for helping us keep showing up for youth in The Bahamas and around the world.

I am so excited to share that I’ve been elected Publicity Chair for the Alpha Gamma Sigma Honor Society at my school.

I will be organizing outreach, publicizing events and guest speakers, and finding creative ways to get everyone involved in our chapter’s activities.

My goal is to make sure every project, service event, and achievement gets the spotlight it deserves, and to keep our community connected and inspired.

I am very grateful for the opportunity to bring more energy, collaboration, and visibility to Alpha Gamma Sigma Honor Society..

This Memorial Day weekend, as we gather with loved ones and remember those we’ve lost, I’m reflecting on the time I spent phone banking for Councilmember Traci Park during the wildfires. I made calls to help residents navigate evacuation zones, access resources, and get answers in moments of uncertainty. It reminded me that service doesn’t always come in uniform. Sometimes, it’s a voice on the line, a shared map, or a calm presence when it’s needed most. This weekend, I’m honoring not just those who served and sacrificed, but also the quiet, everyday ways we show up for one another, in crisis, in community, and in care.

During the Los Angeles fires, many families faced unimaginable loss, losing their homes, cheeished belongings, and their sense of security. This heartbreaking time carries a long recovery and our hearts go out to everyone affected. Among them was Lindsey H, a single mother of two, who lost her home in the Palisades Fire.

Hearing Lindsay’s story and so many more, we felt compelled to help in some small way.

We donated SOAR Jewels to her—something to remind her that she is not alone, she is deeply cared for, and brighter days are ahead.

Lindsay was not the only one—we also donated jewelry to others who have lost everything, hoping to offer even a small moment of comfort during such a difficult time.

Alrhough nothing can replace what was lost, we hope to remind people that they are surrounded by a community that cares.

In moments of tragedy, coming together and supporting one another is what truly matters, and we were grateful for the opportunity to share a little love and hope with those who needed it most. 🤝🏼📿

This past week, I organized efforts with Councilmember Traci Park and Council District 11 to deliver N95 masks to those on the front lines, including Los Angeles Fire Department firefighters, inmate firefighters, specialized teams from Mexico and Canada, and aerial support crews piloting firefighting aircraft, as they united to battle the wildfires across Los Angeles, including those in Palisades, Altadena, and beyond.

These N95 mask filters provide essential respiratory protection by filtering out at least 95% of hazardous airborne particles, such as smoke and fine debris from the fires, protecting the brave individuals on the front lines who risked their lives and health to defend our communities.

In addition to distributing masks, I assembled care packages filled with essentials such as toothbrushes, feminine products, snacks, canned food, toilet paper, and more—small but meaningful gestures to support those who lost their homes.

Together, we rise to face challenges, united by compassion and service. If you or your organization are in need of Masks, please feel free to reach out to me and Masks for Medica LA here.

This week, I received an urgent request for face mask donations to help those who’ve come from other cities to help work on the fire frontlines.

This immediate donation is made possible by all of you that shopped SOAR Jewels the past 2 months.

Fern White, our city, ambassador and Timothy Gaspar with Gaspar Insurance Services ensure this delivery by meeting behind police lines to take needed supplies to our firefighters first hand during these devastating LA County Wildfires.

Thanks to the support from SOAR Jewels boutiques and your generous contributions, we were able to meet the urgent needs of these frontline heroes by providing critical protective equipment right away.

SOAR Jewels delivered over 2,000 face masks to go directly to the first responding helpers who are working around the clock to contain the fires and protect our homes and neighborhoods.

Your assistance helped safeguard the health of responders facing life-threatening conditions to protect our community throughout this past week and into the next week.

This collaboration reinforces how, as a united community, we can take meaningful action to support those who have put their lives on the line for our Los Angeles community.

I have another delivery coming this week. Will keep you updated. Thank you again for SOARING good.

Thank you to all of you who shopped SOAR Jewels this past month at Maiden Community and Chaminade College Preparatory. SOAR Jewels helped the children in the city of Samaná in the Dominican Republic. A meaningful day was spent with the children at the Advocates of Love Orphanage.

The orphanage is home to 20 children and works closely with the government to provide care for kids who’ve been left without parents, neglected, or abused.

During our visit, we delivered toys, school supplies, shoes, and other essential items. We also introduced BizSense 4Kids, teaching business skills through worksheets I translated into Dominican Spanish. These worksheets guided the children in planning their own businesses using minimal resources.

To apply their newfound entrepreneurial skills, the children engaged in a beading activity, where creativity and business concepts came together.

We concluded the day with a game of soccer and a heartwarming surprise—awarding the 15 children present scholarships to help them launch their own businesses.

This experience was made possible because of your unwavering support. Your purchases at our boutiques and generous donations continue to empower and inspire change in 10 countries.

We go into 2025 on this New Year’s Eve endlessly grateful for your support in creating a lasting impact for youth in challenging circumstances, helping us break the cycle of generational poverty.

This past month, I had the privilege of collaborating with a group of volunteers from the Maiden Community, a local small business supporter. Local teens helped Soaring Samaritans Youth Movement (SSYM) lead a BizSense 4 Kids workshop for youth residents living at Hope of the Valley Woodlands, where we donated a kitchen.

Over 20 kids residing at the Woodlands participated, dedicating their time and creativity to a beading and business workshop.

It was rewarding to assist them in crafting beautiful bracelets for themselves and making gifts for their loved ones.

Many had previously started their own businesses by collecting items to sell, such as Pokémon cards, and it was inspiring to hear about their future goals and aspirations.

I am deeply grateful to everyone who has supported SSYM and SOAR Jewels. Your generosity has enabled us to donate to The Woodlands kitchen and continue creating opportunities for future changemakers.
