“Community is central to what we do.”

With the final match of the 2026 FIFA World Cup just mere days away, one thing is clear: the love of soccer knows no borders.

We’re reflecting on Angel City FC Controlling Owner Willow Bay’s (Willow Bay )inspiring acceptance speech at our Asia Game Changer Awards this past May, where she spoke about keeping community at the heart of the club’s mission and the team’s commitment to creating a welcoming environment while advocating for all fans.

ASSC is pleased to support ’s exhibition Daido Moriyama: The Hunter, opening this Saturday, June 6 — the first major showing of his work in Los Angeles since 2012.

Moriyama photographs on instinct. Fragments of bodies, passing gestures, shadows, signage. His images don’t describe the city; they move through it. A member of the Provoke movement, he worked in are, bure, boke — grainy, blurred, out of focus.

The Hunter gathers works from across a career that never stood still.

📍 Peter Fetterman Gallery
Exhibition Date: June 6 – September 5
Opening Reception: June 6, 3-6pm

Gundam. Pac-Man. Free-to-play. The U.S. and Japan have shaped each other’s gaming markets for decades — through iconic IPs, monetization models, and the developers and players moving between both markets.

On June 9, Asia Society Southern California presents Bridges and Boss Fights: The Cross-Border Synergy and Co-Evolution of Gaming — a panel exploring how that exchange has evolved, and where emerging technologies like UGC, XR, and AI take both ecosystems next.

Joining the conversation: Karim Farghaly and Yukiko Hanzawa of Bandai Namco Entertainment America, Jon Goldman of Skybound Entertainment — home of The Walking Dead and Invincible — and moderator Moonlit Beshimov, Head of Gaming Partnerships at Google.

The panel is part of ASSC’s U.S.-Japan Initiative Program IV.

🌏 Where are leading cross-Pacific investors putting capital right now — and what does their positioning reveal about where the market is heading?

On June 9, Asia Society Southern California convenes U.S.-Japan Real Estate Investment Outlook — a conversation on cross-border partnerships, capital flows, and the sectors drawing attention that the broader market has yet to fully appreciate.

Jon-Paul Toppino of PAG, one of Asia’s largest real estate investment platforms managing approximately $60 billion in assets, and Ariel Mark of Tokyu Land US Corporation — the U.S. arm of Tokyu Fudosan Holdings, a Nikkei 225-listed company with over $30 billion in real estate — bring two distinct vantage points to the same table. The regional specificity between them is where the most telling insights tend to emerge. Gregory Karns of Cox, Castle & Nicholson moderates the discussion.

The panel is part of U.S.-Japan Initiative Program IV, hosted by Asia Society Southern California.

A year after the U.S.-Japan trade and investment agreement was reached, its consequential terms on tariffs, investment flows, and economic security remain in flux. Section 301 investigations are ongoing, critical minerals cooperation is gaining urgency, and Japan is navigating the U.S.-China relationship following the Trump-Xi Summit with its own set of priorities.

On June 9, Asia Society Policy Institute’s Wendy Cutler — who spent nearly three decades at the Office of the U.S. Trade Representative — joins fellow USTR alum and USC Gould School of Law’s Brian Peck to examine where the bilateral relationship stands, where the pressure points are, and what comes next.

Strengthening U.S.-Japan Ties in Trade, Investment & Economic Security is part of U.S.-Japan Initiative Program IV, hosted by Asia Society Southern California.

Update: Due to unforeseen circumstances, Joel Wolfe is no longer able to participate. In his stead, Jason Ranne, President of Global Talent Representation at THE·TEAM, will be joining the panel, alongside Joan Garcia Pagán, Sport Manager of Baseball, Softball and Goalball at LA28 Olympic and Paralympic Games. We apologize for the inconvenience. ⚾️ Baseball is diplomacy. The talent, cultural currency, and negotiations between the U.S. and Japan move in both directions — and the people who understand that best are the forces behind it.

On June 9, Joel Wolfe — the power agent behind Dodgers pitchers Yoshinobu Yamamoto and Roki Sasaki — joins Amy Siegel, Partner and Co-Head of Entertainment and Media Industry Group at O’Melveny for a conversation on player representation, deal-making, and what the U.S.-Japan baseball market reveals about the broader relationship between two countries.

Playing the Long Game: Investment, Talent, and the U.S.-Japan Baseball Market is part of U.S.-Japan Initiative Program IV, hosted by Asia Society Southern California.
