Our emergency response teams are closely monitoring Hurricane Isaias as it tracks toward a late-Friday landfall on the Gulf Coast. The storm is expected to bring strong winds, storm surge, heavy rain, and potential flooding.

It’s been a quiet Atlantic season so far, but preparedness is as vital as ever. Small steps taken now can prevent the worst impacts later.

This summer in Haiti, we welcomed 16 kids living in a nearby displacement camp to our annual Plezi Mizik Summer Camp! For four weeks, they joined nearly 80 other kids and teens to play music, make art, eat together, and just be kids again. 💛

One of these campers was Isaac, who had to leave home with his family suddenly when violence broke out. At camp, he found his happy place behind the drums.🥁 "I had fun, I ate, and I played the drums. I felt comfortable playing. I was happy," he shared.

At the end of the summer, the kids put on a concert for their families and neighbors. They were so proud, and so were we. Thank you to our partners at Music Heals International and Music Will for making this possible.

THE CLOCK IS TICKING.

On September 1, we were informed that already guaranteed FEMA federal funding for our Disaster Case Management Program (DCMP) for Eaton Fire survivors hasn’t arrived as promised, and the program will need to shut down.

If this funding doesn't come through, the hundreds of fire survivors that CORE supports, like Mary, who has lived in Altadena for 50 years, will lose their case managers.

To help us stand by survivors like Mary, please share this story and speak out in support of the DCM program. These people lost everything and now they are being abandoned by the system set up to support them – they need our help.

Two years ago this weekend, Hurricane Helene tore through North Carolina and Georgia. Thousands of families lost their homes, and with them, their sense of safety. CORE has worked in these communities for years, and, since the storm, we’ve committed to standing with families throughout their rebuilding journeys. We’ve come a long way together. And today, we couldn’t be prouder to share that nearly 100 families are back in safer, stronger homes.🏠

Helene served as a hard reminder of something we’ve seen time and again: the communities hit hardest by disaster are often the ones with the least resources to recover. We’ve spent these last two years working to change that, repairing and raising flood-prone mobile homes and restoring damaged roofs and walls, so families feel safe and protected again.

The people we’ve met have taught us so much about resilience, about showing up for one another, and about what home really means. Thank you to every neighbor, volunteer, partner, and supporter who's been part of this journey.💛

Tropical Storm Nolo is expected to pass south of Hawai'i in the next few days and could bring up to 35 inches of rain to communities still recovering from Hurricane Lala. As the threat of catastrophic flooding and landslides to the Big Island grows, our team is helping families prepare for what’s ahead.

We are using heavy equipment to build miles of protective berms (raised mounds) to reroute water around at-risk homes and farmland. With the help of , we’re also bringing in hygiene items and essential supplies by air cargo including tarps, head lamps, camp stoves, and more where local stores are still out of many emergency supplies.

George, CORE’s Director of Global Humanitarian Response, is inside a home in that, just a few months ago, nearly collapsed after the twin earthquakes hit the city. As part of our rebuilding efforts, CORE cleared leftover debris and rebuilt and reinforced the home’s collapsed walls to prevent further damage and safeguard against any future disasters.

A milestone like this one matters. It means a family can finally come home. But it’s an equally important reminder that real recovery takes time. At CORE, we’re in this journey for the long haul, and we’re committed to bringing the families of Venezuela back home safe and sound.
